Continue ReadingFootball University (FBU) kicked off its 2022 camp season this last weekend with a pair of one-day camps in Austin and San Antonio, respectively. It was a big weekend for the one of the longest tenured camps in the country, as the Austin camp was a complete sell out and San Antonio only a had few positions left. Per FBU’s Twitter account, their social media accounts received over 2 million views over the course of the weekend.
There were a number of standouts at all positions over the weekend, but here’s a look at the defensive back and linebackers that earned praise from FBU, with a deeper analysis.
Jorian Guinn | Defensive Back | Texas | 2026
An athletic corner who plays with an “in your face” type of style. On the shorter side in terms of height, but plays much bigger than he is. Well put together and physical on the line. Has no problem jamming kids or playing off man. Was a standout during FBU Austin tryouts back in October and will continue on to Weiss High School in Pflugerville, Texas for high school.
Brenden Logan | Defensive Back | Texas | 2026
Wasn’t aware of Logan before the camp and then watched his film–I really like him. He’s tall, long and lean which allows him to blanket receivers and cover space in pass defense. With that said, also bring a very physical presence. On film, shows he can blitz effectively and get to the quarterback. In addition to crashing the box in run support. To me, looks like a safety in high school.
Pearce Kempe | Defensive Back | Texas | 2026
Super athletic kid who plays quarterback on offense and also runs track and jumps in the field. Out of all the prospects listed here, he might have the biggest upside out of all of them. Knows how to high point the ball and can run with most receivers. Earned an invitation to FBU Top Gun. One of, if not, the top 2026 prospect I’ve seen in the greater San Antonio this year.
Briggs Bujnoch | Linebacker | Texas | 2026
The latest Bujnoch to stand out in FBU circles, Briggs is an exciting linebacker to watch play. His older brother, Brody, is a 2023 prospect who is being targets by several D1 schools. Young brother, Briggs, looks longer and a hair more athletic at this point. Aggressive linebacker who thumps enough to play mike, but can also run enough to play sam or will. Will play high school ball at Hutto.
Davontrae Kirkland | Linebacker | Texas | 2027
The kid nicknamed “D-Train” lived up to the nickname at the San Antonio camp, earning All-Camp team honors for his play. Kirkland had a strong season for Cesar Chavez Middle School in Waco, as he did a little bit of everything for the Eagles this past season. While one could argue he’s a better dual-threat quarterback, he absolutely has a nose for the football and has the potential to be a very good player.
Class of 2026 defensive back Louis Hickman and 2029 linebacker Zion Rollins also were noted as having strong performances by FBU.
