Especially when looking at the running back depth in the state of Kentucky, there are plenty of talented running backs found all over the state. Today, we are going to take a look at some talented running backs to watch for this fall.
Ryan Rayno Ryan Rayno 6'3" | 190 lbs | RB Logan County | 2023 State KY | 6-3, 190lbs. Class of 2023 | Logan County High School | Tape
Ryan has an abnormally large build for a high school running back standing high at 6-3! This speaks for itself, making it more difficult for the opposing defense to adjust tackling a taller ball-carrier. What is truly mesmerizing about Rayno’s game is his acceleration off the line of scrimmage. He bursts off into open field like a jet bursting off a runway. Looking forward to watching Rayno continue his stellar play as the premier ball-carrier this fall.
Avery Bodner Avery Bodner 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Boyle County | 2024 State KY | 6-0, 175lbs. Class of 2024 | Boyle County High School | Tape
Avery is a menace in the open field. The upcoming junior can visualize running lanes exceptionally well, which enables him to make good jukes in the open field. What stands out the most about Avery is his sharp cuts once at full speed. His sharp cuts are incredible and impossible to guard as an opposing tackle, which closely resembles Devin Hester on every punt return touchdown in his NFL career. It will indeed be thrilling to watch Avery ball out this fall season.
Andre Richardson-Crews Andre Richardson-Crews RB Russell | 2024 KY | 6-0, 180lbs. Class of 2024 | Russell High School | Tape
Andre is a special talent running the football as after he gets past the front line of defense, nobody is going to be able to stop him from scoring a touchdown. The upcoming junior is quick off his feet which allows him to speed by other defenders with ease. An underrated trait about Andre’s game is his contributions off the ball. Mainly speaking, Andre is a great blocker when he is not getting the ball on plays. A traditional 2-way talent that is valuable to any offense.
Peyton Smith | 5-11, 190lbs. Class of 2025 | Taylor County High School | Tape
Peyton is a one-of-a-kind talent. Smith had a record freshman season as he was ranked 5th in the top 50 rushers of the state by the KHSAA. Not only can this kid run the ball, but he can also run routes receiving the ball and also return kicks with little to no problem. A true dual-threat running back who breaks off tackles like he is running through brittle drywall. Also to note, he ran a 4.6 40 yard dash as a freshman which answers how he can break out onto the open field with little difficulty. Truly an exciting talent that will continue to develop his game this upcoming fall season.
Jayden Newsome Jayden Newsome 5'6" | 165 lbs | RB Shelby Valley | 2023 State KY | 5-6, 155lbs. Class of 2023 | Pikeville Shelby Valley High School | Tape
It is difficult for opposing defenders to tackle Jayden since he is so quick off his feet, he is only able to be taken down in a blink of an eye. The junior is able to make stellar sharp cuts on the open field and can also catch the ball well off routes. With his speed and outstanding agility, it makes it nearly impossible for the defense to stop him from either getting open or finding a running lane for him to fill. Expect another spectacular season for the upcoming senior this fall 2022 season.
