THE WILDCATS
When this team won five of the first six games to start the 2021 season, it caught everyone’s attention. But it didn’t last.
While the Wildcats would win just once more (49-0 Orlando Colonial) the rest of the way, it became frustrating to the coaches and players that basically every game the rest of the way could have easily been victories.
Only a 16-point loss in the playoffs to then defending 8A state champion Sanford Seminole was a game that truly got away. Losses to power Orlando Edgewater (41-35), Orlando Timber Creek (9-7) and Altamonte Springs Lake Brantley (17-14) were all contests this team could have won and it would have completely turned the season around.
As the spring is now upon us, the large rising senior class remembers the 2021 season – and with hard work in the off-season – there is plenty of motivation.
