I had the pleasure of meeting these coaches and discussed some guys who may have caught their eye. In this series I will highlight wide receivers and defensive secondary that I saw had standout performances on the turf at Lincoln High School.
(WR) Anthony Gentile Anthony Gentile 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Plainedge | 2023 State NY Plainedge HS, 2023
Gentile is one of the most underrated receivers out there and he turned a lot of heads on Saturday. He showed next level ability to get separation on a multitude of routes. He has a great build at 5’11 and weighs 185 pounds with great speed and quickness. He ran very crisp routes, using efficient moves to gain separation from his defenders and has reliable hands to make the catch. Gentile has a high ceiling as he only seems to get better with each camp this offseason and will be big threat to defenses this fall.
(WR) Charles Mullaly Peddi Prep School, NJ 2023
Mullaly is 2nd in YPG in the state of New Jersey and finished his junior year with 6 touchdowns and 50 receptions for over 900 yards. Charly showed creativity and good timing on his routes and great ability to make toe-tap catches along the sideline to stay in bounds on an out route dime from Austin Luzzi of New Rochelle. He was mentioned amongst the top receivers of the day when I talked to coaches and scouts.
(WR)(TE) Bodhi Ogg Bodhi Ogg 6'3" | 215 lbs | TE Archbishop Stepinac | 2023 State NY Stepinac HS 2023
Bodhi was dominant on Saturday even against the best defenders. He has a solid build at 6’3 205 pounds and moves very well. He previewed very nice deep post routes showing he can stretch the middle of the field. He is able to beat his man off the line in press coverage and also has great break points in his routes to gain even more separation. With an offense loaded with weapons last year Bodhi did more than just block for his team. He had 12 grabs for over 220 yards and a score in the endzone. We can expect his usage to be much higher this year for his senior year.
(WR) Jordin Houston, Christ The King 2025
The Royals are shaping up D1 talent on both sides of the ball and their skill players can make a big leap this year. At 6’1 and 185 pounds Jourdin is a reliable deep threat as he can beat even the best of defenders inside or outside of the hashmarks to find a score. I got to see his speed on display and he did not disappoint. He blew by his defender on every rep and showed how reliable hands are with one-handed grab in the endzone. He gets a good release of the line, turns on the jets, can adjust and throttle his speed to make the grab anywhere. His ability is already next level and with offseason training and mastering the route tree this summer he will easily be power 5 worthy player.
(WR) Na’eem Gladding, Christ The King 2024
Na’eem is another deep threat from the Royals who can stretch the middle of the field and punish you down the sidelines with his speed. He is a strong 6’0 190 pound receiver who has great strength and toughness to fight through arm tackles. Na’eem ran some great routes on Saturday showcasing not only his next level speed but also field awareness and smarts to create separation at his breakpoints. He has an near flawless game and from what I saw Saturday, he can run anything on the route tree with efficiency. He was perfect in his sophomore season with 22 targets and 22 receptions for 3 touchdowns prior to his wrist injury that held him out of the last 5 games of the season. Now healthy, he is desperate to make up for lost time and will turn a lot of heads this fall.
(WR) Nick Matos, St. Anthony HS 2023
Nick is a known technician on the field and he came up big late in the year for his team so I was excited to see him in person. Every DB had trouble guarding him because of his ability to break down his routes using a plethora of moves to gain separation off the line, at break points and at the finish. Nick is a three sport athlete (wrestling and track) and at 6’1 and 175 pounds he easily has D1 talent. He is elite as a Z receiver and we will look forward to watching him attract college coaches this fall.
