To be slept on means that you possess a high level of talent and potential that hasn’t been recognized or highly publicized for whatever reason. There are many talented athletes all over the state that fit in this category but here are a few names for you to keep an eye on.
Benjamin Taylor-Whitfield – Duncanville High school- Class of 2023
Benjamin is a smooth 6’5 280-pound offensive tackle out of Duncanville High school who I believe is about to blow up. He’s overqualified as slept on because he’s a name not many Texas High school fans know yet but they will soon. He’s tough, mobile, limber, and well-coached. What impressed me the most about him was his patience, violence, and ability to strike and refit. During the prepared zone stock up showcase, he put on a show and was solid throughout the day.
Max Anderson Max Anderson 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Reedy | 2024 State TX – Reedy High School – Class of 2024
Max is a high-rated player but also still slept on because he doesn’t get the amount of coverage that he deserves. OLine is in general a thankless position that doesn’t receive a lot of the praise, glamor, and limelight but he’s one of the most talented players in the state. He has a smooth kick, violent punch, good instincts, and a high football IQ. What stands out when you watch him on tape is the fluidity of his footwork and patience in his game. From my evaluation, he’s best suited on the interior even though he is long and athletic enough to play tackle but if I were his coach I would put him at left guard and let him pull and mow defenders down.
Jaden Rowe – South Oak Cliff high school – Class of 2024
Jaden is a big-bodied, mean old-school offensive lineman out of South Oak Cliff high. He has one early division one offer from Georgia Tech University. He holds a 3.7 GPA and has the ability to play center guard or tackle. He is a lean athlete that is built well and has a good base, strike, hips, and hand placement. He will play a huge part in SOC’s success next fall and will need to keep playing at a high level to help them get over the hump and repeat as state champions.
Jason Tipton – Summit High school – Class of 2025
Jason is a gifted athlete with a ton of speed, potential and position versatility. He recently lit up the @LT2FBA Dallas training camp this weekend and displayed the ability to play cornerback, running back, slot, and successfully return punts. He impressed the LT2FBA staff at camp with his coachability, focus, fluidity in his hips, and the ability to close the distance at the end of the receivers break. He has some more work to do in the weight room to help fill out and rock up his frame but is definitely a slept-on prospect to keep an eye on in the state.
