The intense 1-on-1’s, agility and quickness drills, up close and personal evaluation, there’s been nothing like it for Maryland’s offensive and defensive linemen. Today we are highlighting the standouts from last week’s event. The numbers next to the players are their showcase jersey numbers.
#41.
Mason Robinson
Mason
Robinson
6'4" | 225 lbs | DL
McDonogh | 2023
State
MD
Overall MVP
Robinson dominated during the showcase. Rob9inson came in as a prospect to watch and he did not disappoint at all. His explosiveness alone was too much for the majority of offensive linemen to handle. He used a variety of moves, speed rush with 1 hand, 2 hands, club and swim, and he can blow right pass blockers untouched. This is our first time seeing Mason up close, he’s one heck of a DE prospect, we expect big things from Robinson in 2022.
Overall MVP: @Mason42Robinson 👑

Mason showed an elite speed/power combo + great technique during the 1v1s!
The 4 ⭐️ DE proved why he is one of the highest rated Recruits in the class of 2023! 🔥#TheGauntletTCA pic.twitter.com/2k77mdWqt1
#31. Emmett Laws Emmett Laws 6'2" | 265 lbs | DL Dematha | 2024 State MD Defensive MVP
Laws is a young beast in trenches of the defense, he’s quick, powerful, and elusive. He is twitchy in short distance allowing him to make moves without even touching the offensive linemen. So far this young stud has already received offers from Akron, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Toledo.
Defensive MVP: Emmett Laws

—@emmettlaws1 displayed excellent speed, power, and a wide array of pass rush moves during the 1v1 period! He used his hands extremely well to defeat his opponents and was dangerous from every alignment. #TheGauntletTCA pic.twitter.com/TXCsnmHqVi

#2. Moses Bailey Moses Bailey 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL St. Frances | 2025 State MD | 2025 | 6’1 225lbs | Reservoir
Bailey was one of the youngest athletes in attendance but nonetheless held his own. He’s still a pretty raw Edge rusher but is a heck of an athlete. His burst allowed him to make offensive linemen off balance while he used his hands to blow past them. His club and speed rush were his bread and butter, and he was successful with them but I am looking forward to see what type of player he’ll be after some polish. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on as he has 3 years to build upon a very solid platform.
One of three freshman invited to the The Gauntlet combine (the best ol/dl high school players in the DMV area) and I dominated. Thanks it @THEGAUNTLET_TCA @TrenchCombat for the invite. I can not wait to be invited next year. pic.twitter.com/s8bJx0hlPv

Joshua Fedd
Joshua
Fedd
6'4" | 235 lbs | DL
Dunbar | 2023
State
MD
Fedd is an athletic 6’4 240lbs with grit, a motor, and competitiveness. His hand fighting is violent and is effective against most opponents. I’d like to see Fedd use his long arms more to keep blockers away from his body. On film he uses his strength and natural ability to overpower opponents. He was used at multiple positions, DE, DT, & OLB. I’m excited to see what type of impact Fedd will have on the ferocious Dunbar defense in 2022, he’s equipped with the tools to have a breakout season.

#25. Carter Hess
Hess made a splash onto the scene at the gauntlet. His pure strength and power were too much for most of his opponents. Carter is a sophomore but is academically a year ahead, he should be a freshmen. With such a raw dominant talent Hess will emerge as one of the best in the state as he continues to grow naturally and polish his technique. On film he’s just as explosive, the bull rush worked wonders for Hess and as he adds more moves to his arsenal he’ll cause even more havoc in the backfield.

#14. Bryce Davis Bryce Davis 6'0" | 280 lbs | DL Concordia Prep | 2023 State MD | 5’11 275lbs | Concordia Prep
Has good hands, using them to keep blockers from engaging cleanly while fighting his way around the blocks. He shows some quickness along with his impressive interior hand combat. He switches up his moves to workout in his favor, he uses a speed rush and hand combat, then turns around and uses a hard jab and bull rush keeping his opponents on their toes.
