Continue ReadingThe defending 2021 NCS D7 Mustangs are coming off a 11-2 season and had one of the winningest seasons the program has ever seen. With some talented players graduating like Dante Antonini, Dominic Minton and Jake DeCarli, there is a new batch of rising seniors that are very talented and who are some of the best athletes the North Bay has to offer. Lead by Division I prospects Kai Hall Kai Hall 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Saint Vincent de Paul | 2023 State CA , Cameron Vaughn Cameron Vaughn 6'3" | 280 lbs | LB St. Vincent De Paul | 2023 State CA and Nathan Rooks Nathan Rooks 6'1" | 225 lbs | LB St. Vincent De Paul | 2023 State CA , the Mustangs have some key players returning at key positions and are lead by a veteran dual-threat quarterback in Jaret Bosarge.
RB Kai Hall Kai Hall 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Saint Vincent de Paul | 2023 State CA , 2023
Hall is one of the top rushers in the Bay Area and holds offers from Army and Air Force, with others closing in on offering the talented back soon. He is closing in on the all time Redwood Empire rushing record and has put together back to back to back impressive seasons for the Mustangs. The explosive and elusive back will be the top weapon for the Mustangs this season and will continue to be one of the most feared ball carriers the region has to offer.
LB/FB Nathan Rooks Nathan Rooks 6'1" | 225 lbs | LB St. Vincent De Paul | 2023 State CA , 2023
Rooks holds multiple college offers going into his Senior season and will be a hammer all season for St. Vincent de Paul from his inside linebacker and fullback position. He is a heavy hitter inside the box and can rush the passer off the edge with a strong use of hands at the POA and flashes short area explosion. Leading the way for Hall and Bosarge, he is a devastating lead blocker that explodes through contact and can block in space when needed.
OL/DL Cam Vaughn, 2023
Vaughn holds offers from The University of Pennsylvania, Western Oregon and Carnegie Mellon heading into the 2022 Summer. He is a true interior mauler that excels at blocking in tight windows and finishing blocks with a nasty finish. He is athletic for his size, can pull when needed and shows active feet and strong lateral movement abilities in pass protection. Easily one of the top players across both sides of the line in the North Bay, he will be leading the way for the Mustangs rushing attack.
QB/DB/LB Jaret Bosarge, 2023
Bosarge is a veteran signal caller and is in line to be a massive two-way impact player for the Mustangs. He is a sneaky runner out of the backfield, shows a good burst through the first level and always falls forward while breaking arm and ankle tackles with some open field speed around the edge. Playing a lot bigger than he is on defense, he is a high IQ player with strong ball skills and is not afraid to thump in the box and make plays around the LOS.
DB Malcolm Rooks Malcolm Rooks 5'11" | 145 lbs | ATH St. Vincent | 2024 State CA , 2024
Rooks is one of three brothers on the team that will be an impact player for the Mustangs this season. He is a lockdown corner with good ball skills and excels in man coverage while showing good downfield speed and has a quick trigger while providing a nice thump in run support.
DL/OL Robert Rooks, 2025
One of the top 2025 lineman across the Bay Area, Rooks is a talented pass rusher and has a variety of power and speed rush moves at his disposal. He plays with a heavy punch against the run game and is athletic enough to two-gap inside while able to play all along the defensive line. Starting both ways as a freshman last season for the D7 NCS champs, Rooks should have a breakout year in 2022 and be a top two-way player across the region.
LB Mac Cauz, 2023
Cauz is slated to make a big impact at inside linebacker this year and will also provide depth at running back. Getting significant playing time as a Junior at outside linebacker, Cauz is a tough in the box player that takes good angles to ball carriers in the open field and is a very active tackler behind the LOS. On offense, he is a patient runner that has a nice initial burst and can break ankle tackles in the open field while providing some cutback ability as well. Between him and Nathan Rooks Nathan Rooks 6'1" | 225 lbs | LB St. Vincent De Paul | 2023 State CA , the linebacker core should be in good hands for the Mustangs in 2022.
