Chico returns three talented standouts from their junior class including RB Dion Coleman Dion Coleman 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Chico | 2024 State CA that’s attracted interest at the D-I level.
Dion Coleman Dion Coleman 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Chico | 2024 State CA – RB, Chico, 2024
Coleman was highly productive as the leading rusher for Chico last season. He’s a smaller, quicker back that runs with great balance and low center-of-gravity. He’s elusive in tight spaces with quick COD and plus-side agility. He’s effective at finding lanes on outside zone and exploding through the hole with the speed to get the edge. He can run through arm tackles and shows strong leg drive through contact. Coleman’s generated interest at the Mountain West level and should continue to put his name on the radar with another productive season.

Troy Sommer- ATH, Chico, 2024
Sommer flashed a developing WR skillset from his freshman to sophomore seasons. He was effective operating over the middle of the field on slants and deep posts from his outside WR spot showing reliable hands and positional awareness. He’s a patient route-runner that can create separation with smooth speed/acceleration downfield. He can be a playmaker in the screen game and plays physical with LBs/DBs picking up blocks on the edge.

Travis Dobson- OL, Chico, 2024
Dobson’s a smart, athletic Center anchoring the Chico OL. He’s quick to snap-and-engage and shows a high-level football IQ identifying fronts/blitzes. He can pull to both sides of the line and shows good footwork adjusting to a block in space. He plays under control and positions his body well sealing lanes at the second level. Dobson could be a breakout NorCal OL if he continues to add mass and develop his overall skillset.

Jaime Albarran- ATH, Orland, 2024
Albarran was one of the primary ball handlers out of the backfield for Orland last season. He’s a physical player on both sides of the ball at RB/OLB. He shows good vision between the tackles and lateral agility finding lanes in tight spaces. He drives his legs through contact and possesses the balance to bounce off tackles at the first and second levels. Albarran and senior ATH Grant Foster should be in line for increased workloads and opportunities in the fall.
Alonzo Borchert- ATH, Foothill, 2024
Borchert flashed playmaking talent with the ball in his hands as a sophomore. He’s a smooth, lanky athlete at 5’11”/170 that’s slippery in space and possesses the speed to get the edge on jet sweeps. Look for Borchert to show continued development in his WR skillset and playmaking ability as a junior.
