Dion Coleman
Dion Coleman 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB | 2024
CA
<em>Taking a look at the 2024 prospects to watch in CIF’s Northern Section (Butte, Shasta, Chico, etc.). Chico returns three talented standouts from their junior class including RB [player_tooltip player_id="273574" first="Dion" last="Coleman"] that’s attracted interest at the D-I level.</em> <b>[player_tooltip player_id="273574" first="Dion" last="Coleman"]- RB, Chico, 2024 </b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Coleman was highly productive as the leading rusher for Chico last season. He’s a smaller, quicker back that runs with great balance and low center-of-gravity. He’s elusive in tight spaces with quick COD and plus-side agility. He’s effective at finding lanes on outside zone and exploding through the hole with the speed to get the edge.  He can run through arm tackles and shows strong leg drive through contact. Coleman’s generated interest at the Mountain West level and should continue to put his name on the radar with another productive season.</span> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Quick 6 game season mixtape. He was effective operating over the middle of the field on slants and deep posts from his outside WR spot showing reliable hands and positional awareness. He’s a patient route-runner that can create separation with smooth speed/acceleration downfield. He can be a playmaker in the screen game and plays physical with LBs/DBs picking up blocks on the edge.</span> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en"><a href="https://twitter.com/coachburke89?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@coachburke89</a> Troy Sommer <a href="https://twitter.com/Troy1sommer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Troy1sommer</a> 5’9 175 Slot WR/DB C/o 2024 3.0 GPA Chico Senior High School, CA <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/YACKING?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#YACKING</a> <a href="https://t.co/6k0uZRLxVa">https://t.co/6k0uZRLxVa</a> <a href="https://t.co/UxSxWeUgfH">pic.twitter.com/UxSxWeUgfH</a></p> — GrindHausSports (@GrindHausSports) <a href="https://twitter.com/GrindHausSports/status/1521868271003201536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 4, 2022</a></blockquote> <a href="http://blockquote%20class=twitter-tweetp%20lang=en%20dir=ltra%20href=https://twitter.com/coachburke89?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@coachburke89/a%20Troy%20Sommer%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/Troy1sommer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@Troy1sommer/a%20br5’9%20175%20Slot%20WR/DB%20C/o%202024br3.0%20GPAbrChico%20Senior%20High%20School,%20CA%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/hashtag/YACKING?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw#YACKING/a%20a%20href=https://t.co/6k0uZRLxVahttps://t.co/6k0uZRLxVa/a%20a%20href=https://t.co/UxSxWeUgfHpic.twitter.com/UxSxWeUgfH/a/p—%20GrindHausSports%20(@GrindHausSports)%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/GrindHausSports/status/1521868271003201536?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwMay%204,%202022/a/blockquote%20script%20async%20src=https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js%20charset=utf-8/script"><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></a> <b>Travis Dobson- OL, Chico, 2024 </b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Dobson’s a smart, athletic Center anchoring the Chico OL. He’s quick to snap-and-engage and shows a high-level football IQ identifying fronts/blitzes. He can pull to both sides of the line and shows good footwork adjusting to a block in space. He plays under control and positions his body well sealing lanes at the second level. Dobson could be a breakout NorCal OL if he continues to add mass and develop his overall skillset. </span> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Travis Dobson <a href="https://twitter.com/TravisDobson60?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TravisDobson60</a> 6’0 255 C C/o 2024 3.3 GPA Chico Senior High School, CA <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/HOGMOLLIE?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#HOGMOLLIE</a> <a href="https://t.co/xh1m1CFUYl">https://t.co/xh1m1CFUYl</a></p> — Travis Dobson (@TravisDobson60) <a href="https://twitter.com/TravisDobson60/status/1489060475073486851?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 3, 2022</a></blockquote> <a href="http://blockquote%20class=twitter-tweetp%20lang=en%20dir=ltrTravis%20Dobson%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/TravisDobson60?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@TravisDobson60/a%20br6’0%20255%20C%20C/o%202024%20br3.3%20GPAbrChico%20Senior%20High%20School,%20CA%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/hashtag/HOGMOLLIE?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw#HOGMOLLIE/a%20a%20href=https://t.co/xh1m1CFUYlhttps://t.co/xh1m1CFUYl/a/p—%20Travis%20Dobson%20(@TravisDobson60)%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/TravisDobson60/status/1489060475073486851?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwFebruary%203,%202022/a/blockquote%20script%20async%20src=https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js%20charset=utf-8/script"><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></a> <b>Jaime Albarran- ATH, Orland, 2024 </b><b> </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Albarran was one of the primary ball handlers out of the backfield for Orland last season. He’s a physical player on both sides of the ball at RB/OLB. He shows good vision between the tackles and lateral agility finding lanes in tight spaces. He drives his legs through contact and possesses the balance to bounce off tackles at the first and second levels. Albarran and senior ATH Grant Foster should be in line for increased workloads and opportunities in the fall. </span> <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2Gx6U8">Sophomore Highlights</a> <b>Alonzo Borchert- ATH, Foothill, 2024 </b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Borchert flashed playmaking talent with the ball in his hands as a sophomore. He’s a smooth, lanky athlete at 5’11”/170 that’s slippery in space and possesses the speed to get the edge on jet sweeps. Look for Borchert to show continued development in his WR skillset and playmaking ability as a junior.</span> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Alonzo Borchert <a href="https://twitter.com/AlonzoBorchert?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@AlonzoBorchert</a> 5’10 170 ATH C/o 2024 3.3 GPA Foothill High School, CA <a href="https://t.co/QFAhQ1IZwK">https://t.co/QFAhQ1IZwK</a><a href="https://twitter.com/BrianDohn247?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@BrianDohn247</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/BrandonHuffman?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@BrandonHuffman</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/GregBiggins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@GregBiggins</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/adamgorney?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@adamgorney</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/bangulo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@bangulo</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/westcoastpreps_?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@westcoastpreps_</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneCA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@PrepRedzoneCA</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/TheUCReport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TheUCReport</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/Rivals_Clint?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Rivals_Clint</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/RivalsNick?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@RivalsNick</a> <a href="https://t.co/YBISYnsVy1">pic.twitter.com/YBISYnsVy1</a></p> — GrindHausSports (@GrindHausSports) <a href="https://twitter.com/GrindHausSports/status/1535427713061662720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 11, 2022</a></blockquote> <a href="http://blockquote%20class=twitter-tweetp%20lang=en%20dir=ltrAlonzo%20Borchert%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/AlonzoBorchert?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@AlonzoBorchert/a%20br5’10%20170%20ATH%20C/o%202024br3.3%20GPA%20brFoothill%20High%20School,%20CA%20a%20href=https://t.co/QFAhQ1IZwKhttps://t.co/QFAhQ1IZwK/aa%20href=https://twitter.com/BrianDohn247?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@BrianDohn247/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/BrandonHuffman?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@BrandonHuffman/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/GregBiggins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@GregBiggins/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/adamgorney?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@adamgorney/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/bangulo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@bangulo/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/westcoastpreps_?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@westcoastpreps_/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneCA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@PrepRedzoneCA/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/TheUCReport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@TheUCReport/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/Rivals_Clint?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@Rivals_Clint/a%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/RivalsNick?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw@RivalsNick/a%20a%20href=https://t.co/YBISYnsVy1pic.twitter.com/YBISYnsVy1/a/p—%20GrindHausSports%20(@GrindHausSports)%20a%20href=https://twitter.com/GrindHausSports/status/1535427713061662720?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwJune%2011,%202022/a/blockquote%20script%20async%20src=https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js%20charset=utf-8/script"><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></a>
