More and more prospects from this upcoming sophomore class have been catching our eyes as we get closer to the ’22 campaign, and even more are sure to be discovered this fall. This first Watch List for the Class of ’25 is an impressive bunch that consists of multiple prospects from some notable programs in the state. Look out for these players in the next round of updates.
Kai Reid – Piper, 6’2”, 200, ATH
Twitter: @kairxid
Kai Reid is a prospect that could see some varsity action sooner rather than later. His first few snaps as a sophomore might come on special teams, but his frame and athleticism could lead to more snaps. Reid has an ideal frame for an inside backer, or he could play close to the line coming off the edge because of his quickness. However, Reid’s height and leaping ability could earn him some snaps at tight end or out on the perimeter at receiver. It will be interesting to see which positions he’ll play this season.
Connor Bohon – Mill Valley, 6’3”, 175, QB
Twitter: @connorbohon
The 2022 campaign is likely to be a developmental year for Connor Bohon. But once star quarterback Hayden Jay Hayden Jay 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Mill Valley | 2023 State KS graduates next spring, the Jaguars will have an open competition for the starting job in 2023. It appears they will be in good hands should Bohon win the starting job his junior year. He was a key leader for Mill Valley’s talented freshman squad, and has carried that success into 7-on-7 and summer camp competition. Bohon has the potential to become a legitimate dual-threat in the future. His long strides help him accelerate past defenders, and a play is never dead with him under center. He’ll be a fun player to watch in a few years.
Owen Perkins – Blue Valley North, 6’1”, 190, LB
Twitter: @Owen_Perkins18
Blue Valley North’s coaching staff has shown they can produce next level linebackers, and Ty Farrington is a perfect example of that. Now they’ll have the opportunity to develop Owen Perkins. The young Mustang has similar size to Farrington, and has displayed great coverage skills for his age while competing at the University of Nebraska’s prospect camp. He has solid range, and does a good job of bumping receivers off their routes within five yards. Perkins could be another young player that competes for varsity action as a sophomore.
Daisean Bennett – Shawnee Mission NW, 6’3”, 190, WR
Twitter: @DaiseanV
Shawnee Mission Northwest was well represented in the recent update, and Daisean Bennett is another young prospect from the Cougars’ program eyeing a spot in the rankings. Bennett is a high-flying wideout with strong hands and a wide catch radius. He has the leaping ability to out jump defenders, and his frame and body control helps him absorb contact in the air. If he can become a bit more explosive, he could be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses in the future. Bennett has the potential to be a special talent by the time he’s a senior.
Levi Kepler – Hutchinson, 6’2”, 175, QB
Twitter: @KeplerLevi
Kepler is another young gunslinger featured in this first Watch List that showed some promise as a freshman in 2021. At the freshman level he displayed quick decision making, mobility to stretch plays out, and solid vision in the run game. However, one of the most encouraging signs he displayed was his command of the offense. He looked comfortable running the Salthawks’ flexbone offense, and he seemed to understand the different concepts that go with it. He will need to be a bit more physical as a runner in this offense, but he does look poised to have success as the future starting quarterback on varsity.
