Here, we take a look at a handful of 2024 prospects in Georgia that could grow into elite prospects, and why.
Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA – QB – Walton
When thinking of prospects to include on this list, Hecklinski immediately popped into my mind. After a productive sophomore season followed by a good spring, Hecklinski has offers from schools like UCF, Georgia Southern, and Eastern Kentucky. While he has cemented himself as a legitimate FBS QB prospect, he has the chance to further improve his stock this fall. Why? Because he has yet to show what he can do when in complete control of the offense. For the last two seasons, he has been splitting QB duties with Georgia Southern QB signee Zac Rozsman. Even while splitting QB duties with another talented QB prospect, Hecklinski managed to finish with around 1700 total yards of offense and 15 total TDs. He also improved dramatically from 2020 to 2021, so he is certainly continuing to trend upwards. On film, Hecklinski has a longer gunslinger-style release which allows him to rocket the ball downfield. He can also change up his arm angles to make numerous different throws. As far as his arm action and fundamentals in the pocket, he reminds me of 2022 Auburn QB signee Holden Geriner. However, Hecklnski has the added ability to extend plays with his legs and keep the defense honest. Again, a year where he shows what he can do when in complete control of the offense will do wonders for his recruitment.
Gavin Hall Gavin Hall 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Gainesville | 2024 State GA – ATH – Hebron Christian
I have previously scouted Hall as strictly a QB, and while I think his future will be at that position, I believe he has the athleticism and ability to play multiple different positions at the next level. Hall, a fierce competitor, shows nothing but playmaking ability on film. Not only is he incredibly fast, but he is one of the more explosive prospects in Georgia, as far as the 2024 class is concerned. As a QB, he can put a lot of velocity on the ball and throw on the run extremely well. The guy is a touchdown threat every time he has the ball in his hand, and he will add plenty of value to any school regardless of the position he lines up at. While he doesn’t have any offers to date, he has taken some visits to schools like Jackson State. With a consistent junior season, Hall could blow onto the scene and see his recruitment soar. If you want to watch some really entertaining film, I recommend checking him out.
Marcus Pike Marcus Pike 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Pickens County | 2024 State GA – WR – Pickens
At 6’4 200, Pike already has the ideal frame that colleges look for in an X-receiver, and he still has the frame to add 10-20 pounds if he chooses. At his size, Pike is clearly capable of using his body to shield off defenders from the ball and rise over defenders to make plays, but his skill set is far more impressive than that. Pike has rare YAC ability for his size. In fact, he is plenty utilized in the screen and short game. He is also a good route runner which allows him to create separation from defenders and find holes in the defense. Shockingly, Pike has yet to see his recruitment take off. However, someone with his rare combination of size and speed can’t go unnoticed for long. Here at Prep Redzone, Pike is currently ranked as the 9th best 2024 WR in Georgia.
Skyler Zimmerman Skyler Zimmerman 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Jefferson | 2024 State GA – LB – Jefferson
Zimmerman had a fairly productive sophomore campaign where he put up 31 tackles and 4 sacks, but there is reason to believe he will have an even better season this fall. Standing at 6’2 and around 220 pounds, Zimmerman has put on some weight from last season and is starting to grow into his frame. When you turn on the tape, Zimmerman checks all of the boxes when it comes to the ILB position. Not only does he have great instincts which allow him to pick up on plays as they happen, but he also has great speed which allows him to run sidelines to sidelines. His long arms also allow him to wrap up defenders and bring them down. Zimmerman might not be the guy that makes jaw-dropping plays on film, but he is an extremely fundamentally sound player that will add instant value to any defense.
