LCA is no stranger to winning championships having played in state championships 5 times in the last 5 years and winning 4 of those in two different classifications. Head Coach and former LSU legend Trev Faulk has done an amazing job building and leading successful programs. The Knights were a play away in the 2021 state championship game from winning five state championships in a row. It starts in the weight room for the LCA Knights in the off-season and Coach Reginald Williams does an amazing job with the strength and conditioning program assisting student-athletes with getting stronger, explosive, and faster. The Knights will be presented with a new challenge during the 2022 season as they will be playing in Class 4A for the very first time. The Knights have also been successful in sending multiple student-athletes to college on scholarships. A few to name are Zachary Clement (Northwestern State), Errol Rogers Jr. (Louisiana @ Lafayette), Sage Ryan (LSU), Darian Riggs (Mississippi College), Fitzgerald West Jr. (LSU), Jordan Allen (LSU), and Brylan Green (Liberty).
PROSPECTS:
2023 WR Alex Beard Alex Beard 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Lafayette Christian | 2023 State LA – The rising senior slot receiver had a breakout junior season and is tough to cover with his short area quickness and elite route running. This kid doesn’t shy away from competition and has done it in pads and on the 7v7 circuit vs Power 5 defensive backs. Beard has a high Football IQ and possesses deceptive speed to go along with being a consistent hands catcher. He has been on the camp circuit embarrassing defenders making them fall down and making tough contested catches. Beard picked up his first scholarship offer two days ago from Head Coach Patrick Ross at Graceland University in Iowa.
2024 ATH Ju’Juan Johnson Ju’Juan Johnson 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Lafayette Christian | 2024 State LA – The rising junior prospect is the signal caller for Lafayette Christian but has been camping at Defensive Back this summer. With only 3 weeks into playing defensive back and 2 camps attended, Johnson has picked up offers from University of Nebraska and Louisiana Tech. Louisiana native Mickey Joseph extended Ju’Juan his first offer after an amazing camp performance in Lincoln and that was followed up with Johnson’s second offer from Louisiana Tech DB Coach Marcus Walker after a stellar performance at LSU Skills Camp. Johnson was put through a private workout after camp by LSU DB Coach Robert Steeples and is now garnering attention from LSU. It’s easy to see how athletic Johnson is while watching him going through drills and seeing how well he moves and transitions in and out of breaks. He did an amazing job at mirroring wideouts at LSU Skills Camp and squeezing them to the sideline. Look for his recruitment to blow up sooner than later.
2024 DL Melvin Hills III Melvin Hills III 6'4" | 265 lbs | DL Lafayette Christian | 2024 State LA – At 6’4, 270 pounds, Hills is very disruptive up front for the Knights displaying violent hands at the point of attack and shedding blocks effortlessly to get to the ball carrier. The rising junior will command double teams this fall and will be the anchor for LCA’s talented defensive line. Coaches rave about this kid’s work ethic. What he has put on tape as a young prospect has garnered the attention of two SEC programs as the “Godfather” Frank Wilson of LSU and Jason Washington of Mississippi State extended offers in late May. Hills also holds offers from in-state HBCUs Southern University and Grambling State University.
2024 CB Ty Lee Ty Lee 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Lafayette Christian | 2024 State LA – This rising junior prospect is very tenacious at the cornerback position. Lee excels in press man to man and is a willing tackler. Ty Lee Ty Lee 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Lafayette Christian | 2024 State LA is adequate at staying square to the line of scrimmage and getting his physical hands on receivers while mirroring them in coverage. I would like to see him get his hands on more interceptions, but that will come when he gets targeted more. Lee’s sophomore tape is very good for a 2nd year varsity player and soon enough schools will start knocking on the door. With his track background, I now project him as a Power 5 DB. 2024 will be a special year for Louisiana defensive backs and Lafayette Christian Academy has two of the best.
2024 OT Trevor Jeffrey– With Trevor’s length and size at 6’5, 270 he recently picked up his first offer from Grambling State University. With continued development he will be one of the state’s top risers at the Offensive Tackle position in the class of 2024. Jeffrey is nasty on tape and what you love as a scout to see when watching his film is how he finishes. As Jeffrey continues to work on pass pro and change of direction, his recruitment will heat up.
2023 S Kellen Thibeaux– This is one of my top sleepers at Safety for the 2023 class in Louisiana. Thibeaux is physical with above average ball skills. Amazing character athlete that handles himself like a young pro. Anything a coach ask him to do he does with no hesitation. What I like the most about him is his versatility with having played cornerback, safety, and nickel. Schools will be paying attention closely to his first three games of his senior year.
