Wiggins passed for (3,011) yards as a junior and tossed (35) touchdowns while leading an explosive offense that returns key receivers and running backs from last fall’s state runner up finish. Wiggins can also be elusive in the pocket as he rushed for (537) yards as well.
Wiggins has spent the month of June improving his game by attending camps at USD, NDSU and SDSU and is currently drawing interest from NDSU and SDSU. “I have spent a majority of my time this off-season working on my timing and having my feet in sync so all my mechanics are where they need to be to have success. I am very excited about our potential this fall and we have a great desire to get back to the state title game and win it this season. We have a very dedicated team and coaching staff,” stated Wiggins. You can follow Wiggins on Twitter @Dylan_Wiggins!
OABCIG head coach Larry Allen returns athletic senior QB/FS Beckett DeJean Beckett DeJean 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB OABCIG | 2023 State IA 6-1 (175) this fall. DeJean led the Falcons to a (9-2) record through the air by passing for (2,955) yards and throwing for (30) touchdowns. DeJean is strong in the running game as he used his athleticism last fall to rush for (423) yards and (9) scores. DeJean recently camped at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa here in June where he competed as a defensive back. Dejean has drawn interest from some DII programs and others are showing interest and awaiting senior film.
“My shot at the next level will be as a defensive player in the secondary. I really enjoy playing free safety and thought I performed well at the June camps. I am very excited for my senior season. We return some nice pieces with Griffin Diersen Griffin Diersen 6'1" | 210 lbs | RB OABCIG | 2023 IA (964) yards rushing last year and (8) touchdowns along with two key receivers Gabe Winterrowd Gabe Winterrowd 5'7" | 150 lbs | WR OABCIG | 2023 IA (58) receptions and Josh Peters Josh Peters 5'11" | 150 lbs | DB OABCIG | 2023 State IA (38) catches. We have a very experienced team offensively and should move the ball well,” concluded DeJean You can follow DeJean on Twitter @bdejean2313
Bishop Heelan first year head coach Jon LaFleur is looking to establish his new team culture and transition his new staff into their roles. A key performer to help make that happen this fall will be junior Kannon Bork 6-2 (210). Bork will be utilized as a TE and DE where he recorded (18) tackles as a sophomore. The Crusaders are looking to bounce back from an (0-9) season and are beginning with a fresh start and new attitude heading into the 2022 season.
“We have talent here to utilize. I sense a shift in culture with our team and many guys are working very hard to turn this team around. We have great confidence in our coaches and as players we have to perform better. I am excited about my junior season and I am looking to help lead on both sides of the football,” stated Bork. Keep your eye on the development of Bork on both offense and defense as he has the tools to develop into a collegiate prospect. You can follow Bork on Twitter @BorkKannon
Bishop Heelan will also have the services of talented class of 2024 transfer RB/LB Isaiah Favors Isaiah Favors 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Bishop Heelan | 2024 State IA 6-0 (185). Favors transferred to Bishop Heelan during the January 2022 semester break from Dakota Valley, SD high school. Favors game film shows great instincts at linebacker and lateral pursuit to the football and he is very good at getting off blocks. The offense should also get a shot in the arm at RB where Favors recently ran an electronic time of (4.65) 40-yard dash at a University of Iowa camp just last week and popped off a (4.51) following camp.
“I am excited to be playing for Bishop Heelan as my brother played here. I like the new coaching staff and I feel they will be able to maximize the most of my ability in the offensive and defensive schemes that are being implemented. There is a good group of hard working teammates here and I want to come in and help have a hand in turning the program back around,” stated Favors.
Keep an eye on Favors this fall. I am confident that you will hear the name. I look for him to have an immediate impact. You can follow Favors on Twitter @isaiah_favors
