Here are some wideouts who are seeing their stock rise this summer…
Andre Craig Andre Craig 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Meadow Creek | 2023 State GA – Meadowcreek
There aren’t many in Gwinnett County more dangerous with the ball in their hands than new Meadowcreek playmaker, Andre Craig Andre Craig 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Meadow Creek | 2023 State GA . Last year at Locust Grove, Craig was outstanding when given an opportunity to make plays. He can line up in multiple positions offensively, but when he has the ball, good things happen. He has decent size at 6-foot-0 180-pounds, but his ability to elude defenders and give his offense a spark is what makes him a breakout candidate in the area. He’ll play for an excellent coaching staff this fall and he’ll have plenty of chances to make plays. He’s a quick, slippery receiver with strong hands. He changes directions well, can help on special teams, and does a great job in jump-ball situations. He has some smaller offers at the moment, but has a chance to add some bigger offers this fall.
Christian Mathis – Marietta
One of the more explosive returning receivers in the Cobb County, Mathis was a speedy deep-threat all season for the Blue Devils and knows how to stretch the field as well as anyone in the area. His overall speed and burst allow him to get behind the secondary with ease, and when the ball is in the air, He knows how to come down with it. The air-raid Blue Devil offense needs playmaking receivers this fall and that’s what Mathis will bring to the table. He’s a reliable route runner, changes directions well, and knows how to get open on his own. He’s a go-to weapon on 3rd down who can create separation on key passing downs. He made play after play last fall, catching 54 passes for 911 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games.
Darius Cannon – Gainesville
One of the top wide receiver prospects in North Georgia, Cannon is a former White County standout who will now play his final season with the high-powered Gainesville Red Elephants. Cannon has plenty of speed and is incredibly dangerous after the catch. He’s elusive, makes defenders miss, and showed great ball skills last season. The 5-foot-10 170-pounder has strong, consistent hands and knows how to high-point the football over defensive backs. He’s at his best when he has space to run, and does a good job of eluding defenders as he races down the field. He’s a promising route runner and could see his recruitment take off with a big season this fall. As a junior last fall, Cannon caught 53 passes for 785 yards and 8 touchdowns, and those numbers are likely to improve at Gainesville as a senior.
Quentin Thomas Quentin Thomas 6'0" | 200 lbs | WR Eagle's Landing | 2023 State GA – Eagles Landing
A do-it-all receiver from the Atlanta area, The Eagles Landing playmaker was extremely productive as a junior last fall, catching 46 passes for just under 900 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was one of the top receivers in all of 5A last year and has a chance to do it again this fall as a senior. The new Liberty commitment is a quick, shifty pass catcher who can also be a physical run blocker on the outside. He’s great in jump-ball situations and shows good body control when he’s in the air and attacking the football. He can pick up big yards after the catch and get behind defenses if they get caught looking into the backfield. He’s one of the top receivers in the region, and the 6-foot-0 200-pounder is bound for another big year as a senior.
