The peach state is always reliable when it comes to producing high-level defensive backs, and there are multiple 2025 defensive backs who are ready to have a monster season in 2022.
Here are some impressive 2025 defensive backs who are seeing their stock rise this summer…
Jaylen Bell Jaylen Bell 5'11" | 160 lbs | DB Grayson | 2025 State GA – Grayson
Don’t look now, but the Grayson Rams are in re-building mode, and they have one of the state’s top young defensive backs on the roster who is bound for a gigantic sophomore season this fall. The talented athlete is still looking for a future position to call home as he can make plays both on offense as a receiver and on defense as a defensive back, but many feel like his potential could be as a lockdown cornerback due to his length and cover skills. As a freshman, Bell made plenty of plays on a loaded defense, making 3 INTs, returning one back for a touchdown, to go along with 31 tackles. He already holds multiple D1 offers including ones from Georgia, Florida State, Ole Miss, Louisville, among others. Louisville. He’s excellent in man coverage, has great instincts in zone coverage, and he’s a sure tackle against the run. If he’s able to see the field a ton as a freshman for a program like Grayson, the sky is the limit for his potential over the next few years.
Dylan Lewis Dylan Lewis 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Milton | 2025 State GA – Milton
An impressive athlete with big-play potential on both sides of the ball, Lewis has a chance to make a big impact for the Milton Eagles this fall in his second year. The 6-foot-1 170-pounder has length, ball skills, and natural athleticism that will translate well not only for for the rest of his Milton career, but for the next level as well. He’s quick, twitchy, and knows how to make a play on the ball. He’s a natural in coverage and has plenty of size to match up with bigger receivers that he’ll be going against. He plays the ball well, shows consistent hands, and he’s one of the more versatile players for his age in the North Fulton area. Lewis has had a big month of June on the recruiting trail, adding recent offers from North Carolina and Tennessee and Georgia Tech. He has plenty more on the way too…
Shamar Arnoux Shamar Arnoux 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Centennial | 2025 State GA – Centennial
Another impressive young athlete in Fulton County, Arnoux is starting to see his recruitment take off after camping at multiple schools this month, adding recent offers from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, UCONN, Ole Miss and LSU. He doesn’t have a ton of varsity experience of course, since he’s only a rising sophomore, but he has a chance to have a breakout sophomore season this fall. He’s technically sound at cornerback with enough length and athleticism to play multiple positions in the secondary. At 6-foot-0 160-pounds, he’s only going to add more mass to his frame, so it’s easy to see why college coaches have been impressed by him. He’s quick, shows good footwork in coverage, and has held his own at whatever camp he’s been at recently. He has a ton of potential and he’ll likely continue to climb the rankings in the 2025 class over time.
Jontae Gilbert Jontae Gilbert 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Douglass | 2025 State GA – Douglass
One of the top young prospects across Georgia for any position, Gilbert has great size for his age at 6-foot-1 175-pounds who plays with a physical presence. He’s reliable in coverage in the back end and closes on the way well down the field. He’s a hard-hitting defender who can also help in the run game and on special teams. He’s already one of the better players on the field at all times and he consistently flashed as a freshman. He plays like an upperclassmen and has the size and athleticism to turn into one of the top 2025 defensive backs across the South. He has a chance to have a gigantic sophomore season and will be able to make an impact in all three phases of the game. Like the others, Gilbert has an impressive offer list early on, including offers from Ohio State, Arkansas, Buffalo, among others.
