Not only has the position progressed, but the definition of success for these young players has also changed. Private coaches, and advanced schematics have changed the way everyone views the QB’s of the next generation, and the way they translate upwards to various levels of play. Because of this, we have taken time to search for even more up and coming QB’s, who are seemingly on the rise within the state of North Carolina. Below, check out some of our notes, and feel free to watch their film once you get the chance.
Maddox Greene- Watauga High School
Greene happens to be one of the most talented players in the state of North Carolina within the 2025 class, and this supersedes any position that he could get credit for playing. Last season, he could be seen playing the QB position, along with the RB, and DB positions. Regardless, his speed, and elusiveness are unmatched. Greene does a great job of turning the corner, and with the ball in his hands, he also appears to make great decisions when distributing the football to receivers. While his timing, accuracy, and mechanics need work, he still appears to have the arm strength and vision that it takes to be successful at the QB position. On intermediate and short routes, he gets the ball out accurately, and it also seems as if it comes out with good velocity. Going into next season, we will be interested to see where he spends most of his time, and if it is at the QB position, if he can shorten his release, and transition his weight more efficiently into his throws.
Domaine Vann- Dudley
During the 2021 season, Vann showed us plenty of reasons to believe that he has upside going into the next few years of his high school career. Not only did he pass for almost 500 yards throughout the games he had exposure, but he also passed for 4 TD’s. With this, he also managed to complete 27 of his 42 pass attempts, while racking up a completion percentage of around 64%. Going into next season, we would like to see him continue to work on his accuracy, as well as the way that he goes through his progressions, and throws the football with timing, and velocity. His current stature, and frame will more than likely continue to develop, and assist him in any future success that he may have.
Elijah Oehlke- Grays Creek
One of the things that leaped off of the screen about Oehlke during his freshman year was his ability to push the ball downfield, including with college level throws, and situations. This included deep comebacks, and post routes. Along with this, Oehlke also proved to be able to release the ball with good velocity, arc, and timing, only proving that he is further along than most players his age. Along with this, it should also be noted that he has a bit of work to do with his pocket presence, overall mechanics, and the way that he moves his feet and steps into his passes. If he can continue to work on these areas, as well as his overall understanding and ability to read the defense, we have no doubt that he will be great for his team moving into the next 3 years of his high school career.
Gregory Fee- Weddington
While Fee may also be very raw, he still has the pure talent to compete with most other QB’s in the state of NC. He not only has good footwork and moves well outside of the pocket, but he throws with great accuracy, and squares his shoulders very well when throwing the football. Fee also sees the field very well, and gets the ball out well, with decent timing, and accuracy. Fee also does a great job of transitioning his weight into his throws, creating great velocity, helping him to fit the football into tight windows. Going into next year, look for Fee to continue to develop as a player, and to learn how to shorten his release, to make for betting QB play, and timing on certain routes.
