THE PANTHERS
When you play seven state playoff teams, bringing your “A” game every week is not an option.
That was part of the problem last season for this program, which had a loaded schedule – with several teams that were among the best in Florida.
But like anything in life, there was a silver lining. Along with wins against Alachua Santa Fe (27-20), Fort White (14-7), Palatka (37-30, 2 OT), Gainesville Eastside (28-14) and Cross City Dixie County (35-3), there was a sense that the future is very bright.
While there is an impressive senior class coming back, it’s the young prospects who figure to turn things around in 2022.
Already this spring/early summer, those underclassmen have already started to turn heads at camps and combines.
