Here are a few top retuning single-A quarterbacks to know about in 2022…
Jamal Sanders – Brooks County
Don’t let the size fool you here, Sanders is a dynamic athlete who is coming off an excellent junior season throwing the football for the Single-A powerhouse. The 5-foot-8 170-pounder is one of the better athletes in the region and showed that he can make a lot of plays with his arm. One of the most productive dual-threat quarterbacks across the state last year, Sanders was a threat running the football as he took off for over 540 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground. As a passer, Sanders threw for over 2,300 yards and was very efficient with the football throwing for 28 touchdowns to just six INTs. He totaled over 40 touchdowns last year and helped lead the Trojans to another state championship. He’s one of the top Single-A players going into the 2022 season and has a chance to have an even bigger year in 2022.
A breakout player in Middle Georgia last year, the small-town athlete was excellent for the Wildcats last fall, leading them through the air with 2,478 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. More importantly, Kanazawa led Schley county to a 10-2 record and a deep run in the single-A playoffs. A true pocket passer with a raw, talent arm, Kanazawa knows how to sling it around, consistently throwing for over 200 yards a game. He’s a smart QB who makes the right reads and gets the ball out quickly to his playmakers. He was efficient and careful with the football, and he’s only going to get better and better. He’s got some weapons to work with on offense, so expect his numbers to increase in a big way as a junior this fall.
Logan Cross – Social Circle
A physically imposing quarterback at 6-foot-6 and about 200-pounds, Cross is a big-armed quarterback who is becoming better and better with each day. He had an impressive season last year as a junior, throwing for over 2,200 yards and 24 TDs to just 6 INTs. He looks the part physically and his arm continues to get stronger and stronger. He moves well in the pocket and knows how to step up and chuck the ball accurately down the field. He’s a leader and knows how to take command of the offense quickly and efficiently. There’s a lot to like about his game and he’s starting to see some interest head his way. He has the size and arm talent to play somewhere at the next level, and he has a chance to be one of the best passers in single-A this fall.
Robert Mcneal – Bowdon
A dynamic dual-threat quarterback who can make plays with both his arm and his legs, Mcneal is a 4-year starter and was tough to stop last year as a junior. One of the top overall athletes in the region, the 5-foot-11 175-pounder is fun to watch and played well each Friday night last season. The Carroll County standout threw for just under 2,000 yards last year and protected the football all season. He threw for 20 touchdowns and only threw three INTs all season. As a runner, he took off for 750 yards and 11 more touchdowns, proving to be one of the most productive quarterbacks in the area. He’s an explosive runner, an accurate passer, and he’ll look to have his biggest season as a senior.
