Charlotte has become the premier area in the state of North Carolina when it comes to producing a large volume of college players, and these players hope to jump on the radar of college coaches this upcoming season.
Jamontay Mobley – Harding – Class of 2023 – Mobley is a player that will step into a bigger role this season, but has the ability to blossom with additional targets. At 6’2, he does an excellent job in jump ball situations and winning one on one matchups in man coverage. He also can get it done in the quick screen game, going north/south very quickly and not having wasted motion when he turns upfield. Mobley also displays excellent hands and has a large catch radius. I would expect interest to increase quickly once he adds highlights to an already good package he has put together. Mobley is also a very physical blocker, which is a major plus with his frame.
Cameron Macon – Berry – Class of 2024 – Cameron started to come on to the scene last year on a Cardinals team that had some good senior skill talent in place, and with that talent gone now he should see many more targets come his way. He worked out of the slot and outside last year, and at 6’0 and 165 pounds he made some big-time catches which speak well for his future. I am impressed with the way he can pluck the ball out of the air, especially on high passes. He excels in the quick screen game, and he can contribute well on special teams – most notably on kick returns. Lastly, he is FAST and as he matures into his body, he’s going to be a real problem.
Jacob Dossey – Hough – Class of 2024 – Having one of the best quarterbacks in the country throwing to you makes life easier, and Dossey was a big part of a multi-faceted Huskies attack last season. Dossey did most of his work out of the slot, as he showed he is not afraid to go over the middle, which is where he made a lot of his money last season, with tough catches at the 1st and 2nd levels of the defense. He has the ability to turn upfield after the catch and gain yards – a lot of the time resulting in first downs, or even touchdowns. I put him at WR here, but Dossey can carry the ball from the backfield as well and excels in the screen game, smart usage by the Huskies coaching staff. At 6’0 190, I am excited about his future no matter where he lines up on offense.
Tshokote Shosola – Mallard Creek – Class of 2023 – Let me tell you, Shosola is a home run hitter and a good one at that. In the playoffs against a very good Butler team, Shosola catches a hitch route from a Bunch concept, makes one guy miss, and goes 70 yards for a huge touchdown. His highlights are loaded with him 5 yards behind defensive backs making big play after big play down the field. He has an offer from Limestone, but as more people learn about him I wouldn’t be surprised for his recruitment to take off. He is also a willing blocker in the run game and can work in the quick screen game as well.
Jeremy Black – West Meck – Class of 2024 – Jeremy is another really, really fast receiver. When he has had opportunities, he has flashed big-play ability. Going into his junior year, the Hawks are going to need someone to step up as a primary target and Jeremy has the ability to be that guy. He has worked hard in the offseason and has made some waves at some camps he has attended. I expect Jeremy to touch the ball in the run game also probably from some jet sweeps and screens to get him into space and use that speed and agility he has to create offense for his team. Colleges should get in early on Jeremy before he starts to blow up.
