Many participants from the Carolinas and beyond got tested in the 40-yard dash, agility drills, and 1 on 1’s in front of a number of college coaches in attendance. These are a few standouts from my perspective in a four-part series:
Jayden Fuller – LB – Aiken – Class of 2024 – An impressive 4.7 hand-timed 40, a 30-plus inch vertical, and some impressive agility drills helped Jayden earn an offer from Charlotte after Camp LIT. Looking at Jayden’s film, he really is a very good pass rusher off the edge with a great first step and get-off that beats the majority of offensive tackles he goes against. I think Charlotte sees that he can do even more in his future and I agree – I am excited to watch Jayden grow and have the opportunity to be disruptive in multiple ways on the defensive side of the ball.
Jayden Wilson-Abrams – DL – Greenville – Class of 2024 – Jayden stands at 6’2 and 260 pounds and ran a 4.9 hand-timed 40 – that’s a great time for a young man at that size. I was also really impressed by how fluid Jayden was during agility drills – those things will excite colleges on the next level as he goes through the process. On film, Jayden shows some great abilities as a strong-side defensive end in both rushing the passer and controlling the line of scrimmage and setting the edge in the run game.
Odera Orizu – DL – Charlotte Christian – Class of 2023 – Odera has a great frame at 6’4 and 220 pounds and that will have college coaches salivating for what he can become on the next level. Odera really stood out to me during 1 on 1 drills – I love the way he works his hands going up against offensive linemen with a couple of different moves in his pass-rush toolbox. He also ran a 4.9 hand-timed 40 – Odera’s best football is ahead of him, and some college will be very lucky to have him on the next level.
Harrison Johnson – LB – Porter Ridge – Class of 2024 – Loved watching Harrison in action overall during this camp. He is already a solid 6’1 and 200 pounds. Excellent agility and change of direction which is verified by watching his film from last season. He plays like an upperclassman already, which is a tribute to his football acumen. He’s a physical hitter and can rush the passer and play excellent coverage in zone or man at the LB spot, which is a rare trait at the high school level. He ran a 4.8 hand-timed 40 and I’m expecting his recruitment to start exploding as more schools see him up close.
Jadyn Johnson – DB – Brookland-Cayce – Class of 2023 – Jadyn got my attention early in the camp when he ran a hand-timed 4.5 40, and then ran a 4.6 electronic timed 40-yard dash. At 6’0 and 180 pounds, he did well in agility and individual drills also. He plays a bit of a hybrid position for his high school team and had several pass breakups and interceptions in that role. His athleticism will earn him some well-deserved attention and as he adds to his highlights for his senior year he should pick up some interest from colleges.
