We continue our six-packs of prospects that really turned the page at being evaluated for their college football future. Some prospects on this list already have offers, and others are just starting their high school football journey but are already on our radar very early. Check out the fellas that rocked the boat in Jimmie Country.
Ethan Hoffman Ethan Hoffman 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Flandreau | 2023 State | RB/DB| Flandreau (SD) | 2023
Ethan came away as the Skills MVP from the Jamestown Jimmies prospect camp, and rightfully so. Every time I watch Ethan he seems to get faster and faster and always brings the heat to compete in every rep he is given. Ethan showed off his smooth rhythm especially once we got into Indy drills and had the whole stadium’s attention with just how swiftly he could move especially with his change of direction. He’s a prospect you NEED to watch in person to get the full effect of how damaging it can be. Ethan also revealed sturdy contact when it was his turn to turn on the hitstick as his level of contact was spot on for most of the reps I got to watch. When you get glimpses of Ethan’s film, you also will see how strong he is on routes, as his ability to catch & go show off some instinctiveness that is 100% worth watching. You will see this young man at the next level for sure.
Payton McGregor Payton McGregor 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR West Fargo | 2023 State | ATH | West Fargo (ND) | 2023
Payton showed the looks of a next-level prospect with just his stance alone coming out the gates early on last Thursday in Jamestown. This young man plays with a growing chip on his shoulder. He showed off early in his triple jump just how much explosion is in his 5’9 160 pound body as he erupted for one of the longer triple jumps I heard on the day. Payton sure showed off some instincts in his game as an dominant athlete on both ends of the ball. He had this physicality that made you envision him much bigger size-wise, which I always say is a great skillset to add to a football resume as you want the coaches/scouts to think you are bigger than you are. He also showed off the biggest thing I look for in a college prospect, physicality and from both the WR and DB position which is hard to match on both ends of the ball. Payton is another stockriser I saw in this 2023 class in Jamestown.
Trayvaughn Lee Trayvaughn Lee 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Cass Lake-Bena Secondary | 2023 MN | LB/RB | Cass Lake-Bena (MN) | 2023
I was interested to see which position TrayVaughn would come out to Jamestown with and I was glad to see him in the linebacker spot. This was a kid I was super glad to make the drive out to Jamestown to scout, as I thought his reps on turf showed off more athleticism than what I could catch on tape. He showed an efficient flip in his hips with good speed coming thru on his turns. TrayVaughn showed off a solid motor that was trending well nearly sideline to sideline with solid endurance. He also does a good job controlling the tempo with his contact level to quickly get his ball carrier to the turf. TrayVaughn has some development to go with his skillsets and growing his frame, but would be a nice prospect that would be great for the small-school at the next level coming out of Northern Minnesota.
Tyler Holdeman Tyler Holdeman 6'2" | 200 lbs | DL Velva | 2023 State | DL | Velva (ND) | 2023
Tyler showed off some similarities to the tape I have watched here in my preview of the Jamestown Jimmies Camp. He showed some effective swim moves to get to a few wins in drills. I do think this young man needs to add a bit to his frame to get more competitive on the recruiting trail as he wins a lot of reps with his speed and moves, but struggles against bigger competition. There is a lot of physicality in Tyler’s game that is next-level material, but if he could add 10-15 pounds before the season along with keeping his speed I think a college weight program could to the rest and he could continue being a badger in the backfield that has physical hands and causes plenty of havoc. No offers yet for this young man.
John Luger John Luger 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB Standing Rock | 2023 State | ATH | Standing Rock (ND) | 2023
I said it last Thursday, John has more gas in his tank in game-like settings than he will get credit for vs. testing. Give me this young man that will turn on the jets in real game situations over the kid that might be slightly ahead of him in the 40 in a testing session that doesn’t have that game speed. John is one that you might loose in space as he can be describe as a sneaky 6’0 185 pounds that can get to the outside quickly with his quick trigger. He also has no fear of contact as when he bounces to the outside, he’s as pure as they come with wanting to eat up the contact and put his balance to the test around the sidelines. The Warriors don’t throw the ball too often due to John getting it done with his legs, but this young man reminds me of a college football video game with how directional he plays and can find the hole quicker than the defense can find him.
David Erlandson | DL/LB | Breckenridge (MN) | 2026
Last but not least before we close out our scouting trip to Jamestown, we take a look at another Erlandson from the Breckenridge Cowboys Football family tree. What did we see in this 2026 prospect? Watching Daniel run his pro agility, I could read into the future upside of this young man especially having a future at the linebacker position. He showed a quick jump off his twitch from side to side. Although one of the more younger prospects in the group, you can read into David’s future by looking at how engaged he was in listening to Jimmies coaches commands and although undersized at the DL spot, showed great effort which will grow his improvement this offseason into the 2022 season. One to watch out of NW Minnesota.
