The state continues to produce high end talent year after year and people need to take notice of the plethora of players in this state.
Today we are going to take a look at the wide receiver group in the top 50, a group that showcases the talents of receivers when the have the ball in their hands of speed, awareness and overall athletic ability.
Let’s Take a look at the wide receivers in the 2023 West Virginia Top 50!
Cyrus Traugh Cyrus Traugh 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Parkersburg South | 2023 State WV 6-0 170 Parkersburg South High School: Ranked 4th Overall
The multi-purpose wide receiver that garnered 1,133 yards while hauling 10 TD’s has the speed to stretch the field and make defenders miss in open space. He demonstrates to have good hand strength to haul in the tough to make catches when in heavy coverage.
Spencer Powell Spencer Powell 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Jefferson | 2023 State WV 6-3 195 Jefferson High School: Ranked 8th Overall
A wide receiver that has a tall athletic frame that showcases his ball skills by high pointing the ball in the air and making the secure catch on a consistent basis. He shows to have long strides while he runs and covers ground quickly and effectively once the ball is in his hands.
Roman Pierson Roman Pierson 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Martinsburg | 2023 State WV 6-2 180 Martinsburg High School: Ranked 29th Overall
A crafty athletic wide receiver that has the knowledge and awareness to run precise routes, he demonstrates the ability to shift in and out of his breaks to create separation from himself and the opposing defensive back. He has good consistent ball skills to make the tough catches and secures the ball and then goes for the extra yards after contact.
Ray Adames Ray Adames 6'2" | 165 lbs | WR Musselman | 2023 State WV 6-2 180 Musselman High School: Ranked 44th Overall
The instinctive athletic wide receiver hauled in 49 catches for 543 yards and added 5 touchdowns for a terrific junior season. He shows to have explosive game changing speed which allows him to run away from defenders with ease and be a dynamic playmaker on any given play.
Jameer Hunter Jameer Hunter 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Spring Mills | 2023 State WV 6-0 175 Spring Mills High School Football: Ranked 46th Overall
He has the speed to stretch the field and create a mismatch problem on the outside for opposing defenses and puts in him in the right position to make key plays throughout a game. He has the ability to create opportunities in the passing game by having good consistent ball skills to make solid catches on a consistent basis.
