Here we will take a dive into District 16 and share who we believe the potential starting quarterbacks will be and what they have to offer to help lead their teams to success.
Blake Baker Blake Baker 6'5" | 195 lbs | QB Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX (2023) – Cy Ranch
First Team All District quarterback returns as the starter for the Mustangs after putting up a very impressive junior season with almost 2,500 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns, and showing everybody that he has some wheels on him as well. Baker stands tall in the pocket at 6’5″ and has a strong arm, delivering strikes down the seam extremely well. It will be exciting to see what Baker has done this offseason to improve his already strong game.
Harrison Mass (2024) – Cypress Springs
Mass comes back with great experience under his belt from last where he earned All-District Honorable Mention and I know he is hungry for more. Mass showed he athletic ability when he was asked to run. Mass was lethal with the ball in his hands and found ways to make positive plays out of nothing. Do not sleep on his arm either. He can place the ball where it needs to be and we expect him to head into next season more comfortable throwing the ball.
Jakob Leavatts (2023) – Cy Falls
Leavatts showed a good arm last season in his time on the field. His placement was nice and he got the ball out quick. Leavatts has been working on his craft this offseason and we hope to see that translate into the season. The throwing mechanics have gotten better and the arm has gotten stronger. He has the skill set to lead this team to success and we will be keeping eyes on him as he continues to develop.
Imanii Nelson (2023) – Cypress Lakes
Nelson looks to return as the starting quarterback for the Spartans. His athletic ability at the position helps the teams tremendously. Nelson can be a big play threat with the ball in his hands especially in the option situations. The team struggled last season but look for them to be competitive in their games with the talent they have on the field.
Deyon Batiste (2024) – Cy Park
Batiste looks to be the guy heading into the season. The young quarterback picked up an offer from Iowa State earlier in the summer and we will get to take a look at him. He’s a big quarterback, standing at about 6’5″ and has been putting in the work this summer. The lefty looks to have good zip on the throws and will be exciting to watch as he continues to grow as a player.
Aiden Horton (2024) – Cy Woods
Horton is up next for the Wildcats. In the games he played, he showed good running abilities and was able to extend plays when needed. Horton can be something special so do not be surprised when you see his name pop up everywhere.
Hudson Pollard (2024) – Bridgeland
Pollard will more than likely be the next signal caller for the Bears and even though he has big steps to follow, he is surrounded by talent that can help him achieve his goals. Pollard is in the position to learn and succeed within the Bears offense and make a name for himself in the future.
