They return every impactful skill position. They return their leading passer, four of their top five leading rushers, and their top four leading receivers on offense. That kind of experience is going to be tough to face as they will be able to pick up right where they left off in 2021. The Packerland was a dominant defensive conference in 2021. Only two teams, one being Southern Door, broke 100 total points. Southern Door finished 8-4 while scoring less than 14 points a game. If their defense can take a step forward in 2022 then they will take that next step.
That is a great place to be when 2021 saw you make it to the playoffs. The next step from making the playoffs is making a run at state. Do they have what it takes? Let’s look back at 2021, and then look ahead and find out!

Players to Watch
The 6’3″ 230 lbs LB is the #1 prospect to watch on the team. He has an elite frame with the strength to match. He has a 6’7″ wingspan that helps him stay clean while stuffing the inside run. He is so stout against the run, and his tackling is very reliable. The big man has been earning multiple D2 offers this summer, and his senior campaign should earn him even more offers. Big numbers, and impressive tape is coming from this dude.
Highlights
The incoming sophomore made quite the impact as a freshman. He made plays as a QB, WR, RB, DB, and dabbled in the return game. He is also a very talented basketball player, so the natural athleticism shines through in everything he does. I can’t wait to see how he develops and takes over games more and more each year. Look for him to be a riser over the years, and a weekly top performer on the gridiron.
Jack Peterson
Jack Peterson
The 6′ 180 lbs QB/DB is a two way athlete that should get the attention of the D3 level thanks to his athleticism. Jack is a dual threat QB, and actually does his best work on the ground. His natural instincts allow him to find seams and his play speed allow sim to create big plays from those seams. That athleticism makes me believe he could be a D3 DB prospect. keep an eye on him. He will be key to a major run for Southern Door.

2022 Schedule/ Games to Circle
Aug 19 @ Oostburg
This game played to a tough 8 point victory for Southern Door last season in Week One. This year the season opens with the same matchup, but at Oostburg. Oostburg returns their QB, but they will have to replace multiple skill positions. This is going to be a game that Southern Door needs to take care of business in. They won’t be replacing any key pieces, so they need to prove that the year ready to come in and pick up where they left off. Of course, I don’t expect them to be on all cylinders, but they need to look like they are ready to be a force week in and week out.
Aug 26 vs Lomira
Sept 2 vs Mishicot
Sept 9 vs Bonduel
Sept 16 @ Marinette
Sept 23 vs Peshtigo
Sept 30 @ Oconto
This was Southern Door’s closest victory of 2021. They came away with a six point victory at home. This game saw freshman ATH Drew Daoust Drew Daoust 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Southern Door | 2025 WI take over. He had 100+ receiving yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. LB Taylor Schaefer Taylor Schaefer 6'3" | 230 lbs | LB Southern Door | 2023 State WI dominated with nearly 20 tackles, and a sack. Lastly, QB Jack Peterson threw a TD and ran fro another. That is the exact type of balanced, two way attack that Southern Door will need to have week after week to not only win in the regular season, but also in the postseason. Repeating it this week will be a momentum bump to end the season.
Oct 7 vs Kewaunee
This is going to be the toughest test of the season. Kewaunee made their back to back matchups to end Southern Door’s season very one sided. This is going to be the biggest litmus test for how deep Southern Door can go in the playoffs. If they truly are ready for the next step then they will come in and make this a highly competitive game, and if they all do their job then I believe they can win this game. Kewaunee returns their dominant QB and RB. They will be ready for a run themselves, so prepare for a battle.
