There was a lot of questions leading up to the game concerning whether it would be another low-scoring contest. The questions were answered by halftime of the contest.
The West squad unleashed a potent running attack led by Jabrii Carolina (6’1″ 230, RB, Thomasville HS), Tre’von Hester (6’0″ 220, RB, Page HS), and Akin Robinson (5’7″ 170, RB, West Rowan HS). Jabrii finished the game with 111 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs. He was named MVP of the game. Tre’von finished the game with 105 rushing yards and 2 TDs. Akin finished the game with 49 rushing yards. Jahmier Slade (6’0″ 180, QB, Dudley HS) directed the offense with a mixture of running plays and accurate short-range passes. He decided to tuck it and ran in for a score inside the red zone. The offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage throughout the game, opening lanes for the running backs and protecting the quarterback.
The East squad did manage some offensive firepower during the contest. Hayes Pippin (5’11’’ 175, QB, Washington HS) was able to deliver a long-ball pass into the corner of the endzone to Jewalace Holmes (6’0″ 185, WR, Southern Durham HS) for a score in the first half. Sam Jones (6’6″ 220, QB, John T. Hoggard HS) delivered a long-ball pass into the corner of the endzone to Jewalace for his second score in the second half. Jay Haggins (5’10″ 165, K, South View HS) displayed good leg strength and accuracy on his kicks.
David Eldridge (6’1″ 280, DL, West Forsyth HS) was quick out of his stance with good use of hands to control blockers and make stops. Ellijah Ellis (6’5″ 255, DL, North Forsyth HS) was quick out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving past them for stops. David and Ellijah were dominant players on the West defensive unit that stifled the East offensive unit throughout the game. Kaevon Freshwater (6’4″ 230, DL, Northeastern HS) displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving past for stops. Kaevon’s quickness enabled him to sack the quarterback twice.
