These young prospects have what it takes to take it to the next level with their level of play. We will examine each player in a specific category, and will explain why that athlete is the best candidate in that category. For the upcoming 2022-2023 football season, these young men will be looking to have a great season to cap off their perspective high school careers. Let’s dive in, and give the prospects their due of recognition of great play!
Best Power Back: Seth Davis- 5’8 170Ibs/RB/ Katy High School
Analysis: Seth Davis is a very good power back to keep your eye on this season. Davis was All-State last year and was a captain on the Katy Tiger football team last season. This young man is a very fast power back as well, clocking a 4.33 40 yard dash time, making it even more difficult to bring him down. He does an excellent job on keeping his pad levels low, while running with a forward lean. Davis runs through defenders with vigor and force. He has really good strength benching 225, and squatting 405. The more he develops his strength, the more powerful he will be! Davis can also throw the ball as well when you need him to. Look for him to shine in his senior season!
Best Elusive Back: Parker Jenkins 5’11 185Ibs/RB/ Klein Forest High School
Analysis: Parker Jenkins is an extremely dynamic player. He has one of the best set of hands I have ever seen coming out of the back field as well. His quickness, and ability to break tackles on contact is what makes him a very dangerous weapon on offense. This young man can take it to distance on special teams at any moment as well. Being a member of the Klein Forest track team, the 2022 state champions, Jenkins shows his speed by easily pulling away from defenders in the open field. His lateral quickness is superb as well, allowing him to change directions on a dime and get extra yards if needed! His athleticism, build, speed, and quickness, makes him one of the most dynamic backs in the city of Houston! Look out for him at Klein Forest for the upcoming 2022, football season!
Best Ball Carry Vision: David Smith 5’9 180Ibs/RB/ Clear Falls High School
Analysis: David Smith is an athlete that has shown that he has the patience and the vision to be able to consistently have good runs and gash defenses. He was First Team All-District 24-6A, and First Team All- County as well. Any time he sees a hole in the trenches, he does not hesitate to take chances and make a play. Smith does an excellent job allowing his blocks to set up, and keeps his eyes on alert to look for any potential cut back lanes. He has good speed, clocking in at a 4.5 40 yard dash, and has great strength benching 275 pounds, squatting 400 pounds, and deadlifting 400 pounds. Look out for him going forward.
Best Home Run Hitter: Jahbari Kuykendall- 5’7 175Ibs/RB/ Westside High School
Analysis: Jahbari Kuykendall is a home run hitter every time he touches the ball. He rushed for 1,603 yards last year, averaging 180 yards per game, while rushing for 14 touchdowns! Next, he accumulated a total of 1,788 All-Purpose yards last season! Kuykendall was First Team All-District 18-6A last year as well. He can get the job done. When he hits the hole, he can split defenders at any given moment with his speed. He does a superb job in the read option run game, focusing on catching the ball first m while using great vision to create space and make a play or score a touchdown for his team! He is elusive as well, making him difficult to bring down in the open field. Look out for him in the fall!
Best Pass Blocker: Jacoby Mitchell 5’11 195Ibs/RB/ Woodlands High School
Analysis: Jacoby Mitchell is one of the best pass blockers that I have seen. He does a great job at sticking to his assignment, and not allowing linebackers, or defensive lineman to touch his quarterback. Smith is a very strong and powerful back as well, and knows how to use his ball carry vision to find the end zone! He plays with a high level of physicality, and is reliable in all phases of the game! Watch out for him for the upcoming 2022 football season!
