Now, these names aren’t considered top-tier recruits by most media outlets, and some have yet to receive a single scholarship offer from any level. However, these guys have made their presence felt on the gridiron, and I believe deserve much more recognition. With that being said, here are some of the top senior sleepers in the empire state!
WR: Amari Pitts, 6’3″ 195, Christian Brothers
- Long strider with deceptive speed.
- Lethal target in the red area.
- Catches everything within the framework of his body.
- Strong runner after the catch.
- Long arms give corners problems on the jump ball.
QB: Dante Torres Dante Torres 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB St. Anthony's | 2023 State NY , 6’3″ 195, St. Anthony’s
- Consistently high arm slot.
- Can generate serious zip throwing on the move
- Impressive jets as a runner.
- Throws the fieldside out with authority.
- Intermediate throws hit targets right in stride.
ATH: Jeremiah Colclough Jeremiah Colclough 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY , 5’9″ 175, Erasmus Hall
- Anticipation is off-the-charts.
- Comfortable & under control when rolled up in the slot.
- Extremely shifty with the ball in his hands.
- Skilled at reading the quarterback’s intentions and then going & getting the football.
- Provides air-tight coverage in man.
OL: Irvin Briggs, 6’4″ 260, Holy Trinity
- Has the frame to easily put on another forty to fifty pounds.
- Routinely drives down linemen off the football.
- Looks to be an effortless mover.
- Has an intriguing combination of lateral movement skills and body control.
- Overwhelms opponents with raw upper-body strength.
DB: John Caufield, 6’, 205, Monsignor Falls
- Quality range and ball skills.
- Turns into a physical presence when running the alley.
- Comes to balance with no issue when tackling in space.
- Closes ground like a deer.
DE: Abdoul Idriss Abdoul Idriss 6'3" | 215 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY , 6’3″ 230, Capital Prep Charter
- Awfully slippery in the run and pass game.
- A well-trained hand fighter.
- Shows great effort on runs away from him.
- Burst and bend work hand in hand.
DE: Christopher Bacon Christopher Bacon 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Holy Trinity | 2023 State NY , 6’3″ 230, Holy Trinity
- Plenty of athletic intangibles on tape.
- Bullrush puts tackles on skates.
- Shows a lightning-quick first step.
- Uses god-given aggression to easily fight through double teams.
WR: Torance Washington Jr Torance Washington Jr 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Webster Schroeder | 2023 State NY ., 5’10″ 170, Webster Schroeder
- Nasty change of direction with the football.
- Creates plenty of separation on vertical throws.
- A patient route runner that lulls corners to sleep.
- Stop & start makes defenders look silly.
- Rarely brought down by the first tackle attempt.
