Continue ReadingWe have kept tabs on Nasir Simmons Nasir Simmons 5’8″ | 150 lbs | WR Kensington | 2023 State PA since we got word of his talents via his HC towards the end of his junior campaign. Here’s a talent that understands leverage manipulation at the stem of his routes. Simmons knows how to get open based on the alignment presented to him. Simmons boasts legit hand-eye coordination on tape and in camp settings. I hope he elevates his level of production this Fall. Kensington will be fun to watch so long as Simmons is on the field.
Here’s a potential double-digit sack prospect who can provide pass rush reps with his hand on or off the dirt. JRN’s size is appealing, yet the difference in 10 pounds in one direction may lead him to stay along the defensive front. 10 pounds the other direction and you could see a potential collegiate OLB. Either way, Rhodes-Nelson will provide great pursuit to the football, all while setting the tone on an underrated West Philly defense.
Over the past three years, MLK has had its fair share of talent on both sides of the football. Here is yet another talented senior who is waiting to hear from coaches at the next level. 6’4, a solid 230 pounds. Weight room dominator and multi-position contributor on the field. Green lands on the athletic side of the EDGE spectrum. The young man has put in substantial work on his body, making sure he can blow by opposing tackles all Fall long. There aren’t many other senior prospects I am more intrigued by than Dontae Green Dontae Green 6’4″ | 230 lbs | DL Martin Luther King | 2023 PA .
The Philadelphia Public League isn’t necessarily known for its stellar quarterback play, yet Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA might be the quarterback with the most upside in the Pub. Imhotep and Gratz deploy great quarterbacks as well, yet I can’t help but be impressed by Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA ‘s ability to anticipate throws. Accuracy is his calling card, you combine these traits with a well-seasoned QB that takes care of the football, and colleges will begin to take notice. Knight’s recruitment could peak with a great senior year that is hopefully full of production. Knight’s height is ideal, if he can put on some good weight it could push his stock in the right direction.
Here’s a prospect who plays with a ton of effort and hustle. Rashawn Williams Rashawn Williams 6’3″ | 180 lbs | DL School of the Future | 2024 PA ‘ sophomore tape exceeded my expectations. The young man flies around the field looking for something to hit, can’t question his motor. Williams will be a key piece to the Future defense. I’m excited to see what role the coaching staff has cooked up for him, seeing that he is now an upperclassman who is ready to handle a larger role. At 6’3, 180, safety, tight end and linebacker could be options for the kid. Position versatility will do wonders for his stock with college coaches.
We clamor whoever is willing to listen, to get more eyes on Jonathan Cebollero Jonathan Cebollero 6’0″ | 155 lbs | ATH George Washington | 2023 State PA . I say this even with the talent at Imhotep and Northeast, Cebollero is one of the better two-way players the Pub has to offer. Equally as impressed with his play-making ability on offense as I am with his consistency in the secondary. An aggressive football player who needs a shot at the next level. His talent received a D2 ceiling grade from me. One of my favorite prospects to watch. Hope to see another fruitful Fall.
Mekhi Gordon
Mekhi Gordon
A shame that Mekhi Gordon isn’t on our rankings. I think his tape says enough about his abilities to warrant looks from local D3s. Gordon has yet to obtain that illustrious offer. A senior campaign that shows a quicker, stronger, more fluid back could sway coaches at the next level to pull the trigger on a kid who is albeit undersized, but one hell of a worker.
Marquise Somerville Marquise Somerville 5’7″ | 175 lbs | RB Simon Gratz | 2023 PA is in the same boat as Mekhi Gordon. Undersized at running back makes recruitment difficult. I’d say turn on the Somerville tape, it just might surprise you. An absolute bowling ball of a running back, Somerville displays a great center of gravity that allows him to eat in the trenches. Weight room work makes him a tough tackle. He can be labeled slippery as well, he can get loose from arm tackles with ease if you attempt to tackle without your pads.
