Why did they ultimately commit to the program they chose? What other schools were they considering? Most importantly, what advice would they give to athletes who are just starting their own recruiting journey.

I picked Minnesota because I believed it was the best place for me. All of my family is here, the staff treats me like family, and Coach Callahan is one of the best offensive line coaches in the nation. I have faith in his coaching ability, and I can see myself growing as a person here.
Jack Liwienski Jack Liwienski 6'3" | 265 lbs | DL Minnetonka | 2023 State MN OL/DL Minnetonka
I picked NDSU because of the relationships I’ve built with coaches and players. Also because of their culture and what football means in Fargo.
Alex Elliott Alex Elliott 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Hutchinson | 2023 State MN LB Hutchinson
Minnesota was a no brainer because it was close, and I was drawn in by the way Coach Fleck respected the players and they all got along so well. Coach Rossi was a guy I could invest myself in to make me the best player I could be. Lastly the atmosphere in the University of Minnesota is crazy. It seems like everyone heavily supports Gophers’ football.
Tyson Cooreman Tyson Cooreman 6'4" | 205 lbs | ATH Randolph | 2023 State MN TE/LB Randolph
I picked UNI because of the people and culture they have there. What separated UNI was the connections the coaches formed with me right away the first time I was on campus.
What other schools were you considering?
Williams: Other schools I was considering – Iowa State and Kansas.
Liwienski: Other schools I was considering were Miami (OH), South Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Air Force.
Elliott: I was considering Northern Illinois, Air Force and North Dakota State.
Cooreman: Other schools I was considering were North Dakota State, North Dakota and St. Thomas.
What advice would you give to football players who are just starting the recruiting process.
Williams: Be consistent – consistent in school, consistent in the weightroom, consistent on the field. Upload lots of film, game clips, team camp clips, clips of you dunking, all of that.
Liwienski: Advice I would give to new recruits is to stay humble and don’t compare yourself to others. Just focus on being the better version of yourself and good things will happen.
Elliott: Advice I would give would be – play every play like there’s a scout there. Get exposure at camps and events. Don’t be afraid to ask questions regarding where you stand on their recruiting list and ask what they need to see from you.
Cooreman: The advice I would give someone just starting to be recruited is to make connections with recruiters and coaches in the recruiting field right away. Another piece of advice would be to stay active on Twitter to market yourself as much as possible.
