Luna is one of the better quarterbacks from across the region but is a natural athlete on the defensive side of the ball as well. Having good length on the back end, he shows strong ball skills and natural instincts while able to jump routes and trigger quickly while baiting quarterbacks into bad throws across the middle. In space, he breaks quickly while the ball is in the air and is long and rangy with closing speed and covers a ton of ground in space. Going into the Fall, he should see his recruiting pick up as he is a next level player that can play multiple positions effectively.
SS/OLB Luke Legarreta Luke Legarreta 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Bishop Kelly | 2023 State ID , Bishop Kelly HS
Legarreta recently picked up his first offer from the University of San Diego last week and is one of the more athletic and active linebackers across the state. He can play a variety of positions on defense and is very fluid in space with elite cover abilities and thumps in the box. Displaying a high football IQ, he flashes a quick play diagnosis, takes good angles in the open field when pursuing and brings a nice thump upon contact. In the passing game, he re-routes with heavy hands, shows recovery speed and baits quarterbacks into bad throws with good eye discipline and no false steps when breaking to ball carriers. Overall, he is a very balanced outside linebacker that could possibly also play strong safety in college and will be one of the top defenders to note this Fall.
FB/LB Luke Hanchett, Rocky Mountain HS
In the right system, Hanchett will excel at the next level and is line to be the hammer for Rocky Mountain this season. He is athletic for his size, physical at the POA when blocking on the perimeter and shows some nice wiggle in the open field. Underneath, he shows strong hands in traffic and sticks his toe in the ground quickly while getting vertical and is able to run through arm and ankle tackles with a forward lean and always gets the tough extra yards. In both the inside and outside run game, he is a devastating blocker that runs through contact and finishes downfield while able to kick out defensive ends and scrape to the second level.
