Reeder has a huge chance to breakout this season. One of the focal points of the Holy Trinity defense at linebacker last year Reeder played second fiddle in the backfield to Kameron Robbins. Last season Reeder only had 28 carries but he took those limited touches and had great success. Averaging 9.9 yards per carry Reeder was the leading rusher per carry for a stacked Holy Trinity offense last season. Even though Reeder is one of the better returners on defense for Holy Trinity I think he could explode on offense this season. Reeder is deceivingly strong for his size consistently bouncing off tacklers like a bowling ball. Reeder does not really have the size to play defense in college so increased opportunity in the backfield should result in some local recruiting interest in Reeder.

Valdez should take full reign of the Long Island Lutheran backfield this season after the graduation of Ethan Licin. Valdez had the best yards per carry on the team last season and will return to an offense that is losing their top three receivers and Licin who led them in carries last season. Long Island Lutheran should be reliant on Valdez early in the season to get their offense going. Valdez is short for a running back but he has really good speed and is very direct as a runner. He also is a wrestler which is a secondary sport that translates really good to football. Valdez runs with intent and regardless of size can run through tackles. His wrestling background helps him routinely break tackles through getting low. I am really intrigued with what Valdez is going to be able to do this season with increased opportunities out of the backfield.

Costa is one of the best lineman in all of Long Island regardless of class and he is an anchor for one of the best offenses in all of New York at Holy Trinity. Costa ticks all the boxes in looking for an interior offensive lineman for the next level. Costa is strong and uses his lower body to generate that power, his movement is fluid especially at the hips, and he nearly always is first to initiate contact and dictate the hand battle with who he is blocking. Where I was most impressed is Costa’s aggressiveness in pass protection. On pass plays Costa is very quick with his arms and sets his feet well. Things I think we could see a little more of from Costa is some more nasty finishing on his run blocks. Costa completes blocks well but the is a lack of a finish that you desire from your more interior guys. I think Costa will really start to get some local attention and offers this fall as he looks to anchor the line of one of the best offenses in Long Island once again.

Menghi is a tall lean tight end prospect who could have a breakout season this year. Menghi really has athletic profile for the position and combines impressive size with agility and speed. At 6-4, 200 pounds Menghi could continue to bulk up but is getting to the point that college coaches will want him at to play the tight end position. His separation against defensive backs at this level shows his athletic ability and that he does not rely on his long frame to make plays. Also, one of the best blockers I have seen this class at the tight end position and as he continues to get stronger he should become more dominant as a blocker. A couple things I would like to see from Menghi in game this season is a better ability after the catch. No need for touchdowns every play but just getting by the first or second tackler using his size and strength would go a long way. Additionally, if Menghi can get some more opportunities to show his ability as a vertical threat college coaches will really start to see some of the potential Menghi offers.

Duff Jr. is one of the best athletes in this class and has some of the most exciting physical tools in Long Island. Standing 6-5 Duff Jr. has elite length headed into college and the sort of reach that teams will covet. Duff Jr. plays primarily wide receiver but a move to tight end could be in store at the next level if he bulks up. The modern day tight end is becoming a mismatch nightmare for defenses and as Duff Jr’s body fills out he could become that matchup nightmare college coaches are trying so hard to find. Duff Jr. is a well rounded receiver and knows how to use his size and body to high point the football on contested catches. I would like to see Duff Jr. get a little crisper running some of his routes that rely more on a quick change of direction hence the potential move to tight end in college. However, with Duff Jr’s size and skillset there is a ton of untapped potential there. Duff Jr. holds offers from a lot of the prominent division one schools in the northeast but with a big season we could see power five programs such as Penn State and Syracuse join his current list of offers. And with Duff Jr’s potential I would expect some additional interest from power five schools.

Brown is the current star of Long Island and the offense over at Holy Trinity. A four-star recruit according to 247Sports Brown is receiving some of the most serious power five attention in all of New York. Offers from programs such as Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Oklahoma just show how seriously talented Brown is. With elite speed and playmaking ability Brown is unstoppable with the ball in his hands. Brown also is a really talented safety and routinely shows he is not afraid to attack the ball and make big hits. I think at the next level Brown could play either offense or defense and likely feature in the return game as a freshman. At this point Brown does not have much more work to do to get noticed. This season will mostly be about refining his game and getting it college ready while maybe picking up a couple more significant offers along the way.
