Just because they are so far out west from the rest of Class A doesn’t mean the Bulldogs aren’t ready to face off with the other dogs in Class A. They have an very interesting schedule and they have multiple opportunities to make it all the way to the playoffs and maybe even further. They run a very different style of Football compared to other Class A schools. Their specialty is the wonderful Flexbone Offense and its variations. This gives the Bulldogs a great mix of option and wildcat plays. Last season showed that their old-school offense can win and play very well.
2022 Bulldog Schedule
@ Papio South
V.S. Grand Island
@ Scotts Bluff
V.S. Columbus
@ Kearney
V.S. Westside
@ Lincoln Northeast
V.S. Norfolk
V.S. Papillion-LaVista
North Platte’s Schedule this year is a bit tougher than 2021 starting all the way in Papillion. Traveling is a common theme for the bulldogs this season. They play in Papillion, Kearney, Lincoln, and even Scottsbluff. If the Bulldogs can pull off some great on the road wins. I really think their talent starts and begins with their flexbone run game. Their footage really impressed me and I really cannot wait to see more. Last season was full of ups and downs for the Bulldogs. They started the season going 2-0 with blow out wins against Aurora and Fremont. Their next game was a painful loss to Kearney 42-14. Their next two games against Lincoln North Star and Lincoln Northeast went very well with 2 more Bulldog victories winning 47-9 against North Star and 37-14 against Lincoln Northeast. Next they would travel to Omaha against Creighton Prep losing 42-24. The regular season was finished with wins over Lincoln East and Millard West and ending with a loss to Columbus. North Platte would finish the 2021 season going 6-3 saving a spot for them in the Nebraska State Playoffs. The Bulldogs would go up against the Discoverers this time NPHS would take the W winning 24-17 to go onto the next game where they would lose a heartbreaker to Omaha North. The Bulldogs rushing offense was their success last season averaging 312 yards a game and totaling 3,433 yards on the season which is incredible. NPHS’s defense had 18 sacks and 7 interceptions. 2022 is a new season with new opportunities and new and old weapons that can be reloaded and spring to success.
Three Players to look out for in 2022
RB Kolten Tilford Kolten Tilford 5'9" | 165 lbs | ATH North Platte | 2023 State NE 5’9 165 lbs
Kolten is one of the main components to the Bulldog offense. In North Platte’s offense needs a back like Tilford. Last season he had 548 yards with an average of 10 yards a carry. Kolten has speed and moves. Last season he scored 5 tackles with 2 games with a total of 100 yards. Kolten’s going to be one of the top RBs this season in all of Nebraska.
FB Brock Roblee Brock Roblee 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB North Platte | 2023 State NE 5’10 180 lbs
I talked about Brock in my Western Nebraska Offense preview a while back and we are even closer to seeing his skill again. Roblee as a fullback ran for 1,186 yards last season averaging 107 yards per game and scoring 11 Touchdowns and 2 2-point conversions. This kid is talented and will definitely be up there with the top running backs in the state.
DE Caleb Kinkaid Caleb Kinkaid 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL North Platte | 2023 State NE 6’3 215 lbs
Caleb is a great player and one of the leaders of the Bulldog defense. Last year he had an amazing 77 tackles last season 26 of which were solo tackles averaging 7 tackles per game and 11 tackles for losses and a caused fumble. In his career Kincaid has had 135 total tackles and 18 sacks. Kinkaid is an absolute beast and a monster and will wreck any offense he goes up against.
