One of the best backs in the state, if not the best when you consider how capable White is in the passing game. I’ve stated in the past that I would take White’s pass-catching ability over many of the state’s top wideouts. His ability to be an every-down back had to play a role in his recruitment. White is just 300 yards away from calling himself William Penn York’s all-time leading rusher. Who knows, he could claim the title this Friday.

Tough to find a senior quarterback who has had a better offseason than Sam Stoner Sam Stoner 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB William Penn (York) | 2023 State PA . Stoner has seen his hard work pay off thus far. Combine the improvements he’s shown in the weight room, the improvements seen to his release, and the strides he’s made in the classroom and you’ve got yourself one of the better quarterback prospects in the state. Hard to imagine this kid only has two years of football under his belt. Happy to see D1 schools begin to pull the trigger. Stoner holds offers out of Southern Utah, Saint Francis, Towson, Shippensburg, and Millersville. This weekend will mark the first time I see the young man work in full pads, excited to see him prove his top five position status.
Next are four seniors who will have a huge say in just how far the Bearcats get this Fall. Beginning with Mikey Gray Jr Mikey Gray Jr 6’1″ | 230 lbs | DL William Penn | 2023 State PA , Gray just barely graded out of a potential FCS grade from us, scoring a high D2 projection that has yet to be reciprocated by D2 programs. Misericordia was first to pull the trigger and offer Gray Jr. Now that camp season is past us, Gray can finally suit up and show every school that’s on the fence, just how great of a pass rusher he can be.
Que Price Que Price 5’11” | 175 lbs | DB William Penn | 2023 State PA is another piece to the puzzle. If Price’s role is similar to last Fall’s, expect a good blend of WR and S reps for the young man. I personally like his skill set at defensive back, especially when projecting to the next level. Yet don’t be surprised if Price claims major reps at wideout, no reason this kid can’t play both ways again this Fall.
Montress Jackson Montress Jackson 5’10” | 220 lbs | LB William Penn | 2023 State PA is a fun prospect to breakdown. Both on tape, and in person, I have seen the 230-pound fullback both move well in space and flash some pass-catching ability. The kid is clearly athletic in his frame, which is saying a ton considering he has tree trunks for legs. Montress will more than likely impact the defense a tad bit more than offense, yet don’t be surprised when you see Jackson get some goal-line carries or lead-blocking reps.
It was a bad look not having James McBride James McBride 6’2″ | 170 lbs | ATH William Penn | 2023 PA on our ranks. I’ll take that on the chin. Glad to finally have him represented. If I could redo the rankings, I’d place McBride inside the top 500 at least. It goes to show how important it is to get your boots on the ground and see kids up close. McBride impressed me, as well as other D3 and D2 coaches present, at the National Preps camp back in May. Excited to see the Stoner-McBride connection this Fall.

The senior Bearcat class is a special one. Luckily, they won’t have to carry too much of the load, with junior McMonigle, sophomore Warde, and freshman Amani sd s Bones Amani sd s Bones 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH PA contributing in what looks to be significant ways.
Michael McMonigle Michael McMonigle 6’7″ | 290 lbs | OL William Penn (York) | 2024 State PA has all the makings of becoming a national prospect this Fall. McMonigle has seen offers out of Old Dominion and Marshall thus far, yet I could see a scenario where McMonigle dominates as a junior, possibly leading to more FBS offers down the line. The 6’6 build is obvious eye candy to collegiate suitors. McMonigle is still raw enough to be molded to the liking of the coaching staff.
Next up is a new name to the site, one I have yet to write on so far. When I think of WP York, I think of what the offense is capable of with Stoner and White producing the way they can. Yet with Price, McBride, and 6’0 sophomore David Warde David Warde 6’1″ | 150 lbs | ATH William Penn | 2025 State PA , I might be swayed to pay more attention to the trio of talented wideouts the program is deploying. Warde looks to have a ton of work to do in the weight room, he has time to fill out his pads. Nonetheless, my eyes will be peeled to see what kind of impact Warde can have in year two.
Last but not least, I thought I’d mention incoming freshman Amani sd s Bones Amani sd s Bones 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH PA . There isn’t tape to properly evaluate the kid, yet Bones is posting some impressive weight room numbers for a kid fresh out of eighth grade. Bones could be a name to watch for in the future, especially if he can learn anything from York great Jahiem White Jahiem White 5’9″ | 190 lbs | RB William Penn (York) | 2023 State PA .
