Further, in years past, four Hawks’ football players have been selected as the Massachusetts Player of the Year by numerous organizations: Greg Comella in 1992, Matt Hasselbeck in 1993, Chris Fox in 2005, Alex Phalen in 2009, Joe Gaziano in 2014, and Coby Tippett in 2015.
Team Overview: The 2022 team will be poised once again to continue the winning tradition within the Catholic Conference of the MIAA as it battles to be in the 2022 MIAA Division 1 Playoff format. The Hawks have picked up a 2024 transfer QB Henry Hasselbeck Henry Hasselbeck 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Xaverian Brothers | 2024 State NewE and could look for him to lead them into the fall 2022 season.
2021 Season Results: Another productive season for the Hawks continued in 2021. The three losses the team resulted in were to very good teams in Springfield Central, Catholic Memorial, and Everett High School. There were not as many quality wins as this program is used to having but was still another successful season for the Hawks. The biggest win was the last game of the season on Thanksgiving.. The Hawks beat their rival St. John’s Prep in a close battle to take the 36-35 win. There are some holes left by graduation, but next year’s team will be experienced up front with some emerging playmakers.

Players to watch:
“Oates has a low pad level that brings good speed and agility to the field. He is a very good athlete who has good hands coming out of the backfield. He will be heading to UConn to play baseball for the Huskies. HUDL: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11868450/61a78b770c5e09099ca1a1e8
Tubman brings good qualities with good instincts and awareness. His run blocking abilities is noticeable on film. He sustains blocks and finishes. He shows the ability to release from the block and initial quickness is good. His frame is large at a solid 6’3″ with athleticism. HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2GVguY
A great edge protector. Standing at 6-3, 245-pound he plays very fast with a big physical presence on every down. Has a strong motor to keep going while protecting the edge and chasing the ball carrier. He has had a strong 2022 summer college camp season attending many D1 program camps. Many schools love his size and frame.
Highlights
With his superior athletic presence on the interior line, the Hawks will look for Canty to be an additional force this season. Canty is projected be a future FCS/Div 2 player and a strong senior season will help with more schools coming on board for his services. HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2GzGxK
A solid athlete for the Hawks. Busa is a three-year starter at safety and wide receiver. Viewing him from a defensive point, he can be a sure thing in run support. He can deliver a vicious impact of physicality that can be easily be seen on film. HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2GVTda
Highlights
Has good closing speed and ability to chase plays down from the LB position. His film displays the ability to change direction, flip hips fluidly, and be explosive in the power angles (ankles, knees and hips). “Prophete” is also a good ball carrier and will help keep the Hawks offense balanced with the run & pass each game.

NOTABLES: Xaverian Bros High School is a private, Catholic, college preparatory day school for boys in grades 7-12. The Boston area prep school offers a rigorous academic curriculum, a well-developed campus ministry program focused on faith, character, and leadership, and a proud athletic tradition featuring competitive Division 1 high school athletics in the Catholic Conference.
Championship History:
In particular, the football team has brought great notoriety to the school over many years, having won ten MIAA Division 1 State Championships in 1966, 1967, 1986, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2009, 2014, and 2015. The 2015 team was ranked the 22nd best team in nation by USA Today.
