Buckman is a genuine pocket passer who sees the field fairly well for his age. He’s someone that has been able to handle a lot on his plate and is able to manage everything. He knows where he’s supposed to go with the ball and has no issue going through his reads most of the time. He’s got solid footwork, while not perfect, it’s much cleaner than the average QB. His arm is fantastic as well. He’s got the ability to drop it over the top down the field or drop his arm angle and make an impressive throw. He’s got enough zip on the ball to throw it on a line and in a tight window. While he’s best in the pocket, he’s more than capable of rolling out and extending the play. He’s able to throw with anticipation and doesn’t bat an eye when he’s going to take a shot. Buckman has always been more composed and consistent than the average young QB. He wins games because he’s able to move the ball and score touchdowns. In my opinion, he’s one of the more sound QBs in the area and has a fairly bright future. He’s got the arm, the football IQ, and composure to develop at the next level. This fall, he’s got one last chance to make that title push again. Wherever he ends up, I feel confident in saying that they’re going to get a steal and a prospect with an incredibly bright future.
Landon Fouts Landon Fouts 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Lebanon | 2023 IN – Lebanon – QB – 6’4″ 170lbs
Fouts has a fantastic frame that stands out clear as day. On the field, you’ve got a true 6’4″ pocket passer who goes through his reads and puts the ball in a good spot. His footwork is also fairly decent outside of a heel click from time to time. When he doesn’t heel click, his feet can be as pretty as any recruit you’ll see. Fouts is able to let it rip without stepping into it, but it obviously helps. He’ll stand in there and take a shot to deliver the ball. With his height and size, he’s able to do so more than some shorter QBs who wouldn’t be able to see or get it off. He likes to make quick decisions and get the ball out on step 3. He isn’t afraid to try putting it in a tight window or testing his arm. He’s able to throw with anticipation and can find the open gaps and put the ball there for his guy. While he doesn’t have the biggest arm, it’s decent enough but more importantly, as he develops physically it’ll likely get stronger improving his range. He’s good in the pocket and his mental clock is fairly good. He’ll bail when he needs to and knows when and how to step up. If Fouts is able to come out this fall and have another stellar season while showing a step of progress, he’ll have no issue finding a home at the next level.
Nehemiah Young – Wayne – TE/DE – 6’3″
Young is a fairly versatile athlete who can bounce around on both sides of the ball and slide around on the line on defense. Whether he’s needed to come off the edge or bounce inside and handle the run, Young has been able to do both. He’s got incredibly length which allows him to get first contact, almost every time. He’s nimble enough to come off the edge and thick enough to move inside if he needs to. While he isn’t the most polished defender, he’s scrappy and strong and just knows how to make things happen. In the running game, if he doesn’t get there, he’s able to reach over gaps with his length and affect the ball carrier. He’s good in the alley and isn’t going to get run over. He also hasn’t shown a tendency to overpursue or miss his landmarks often which is a very good sign. He’s a higher-motored player and feels like someone who could really take off at the college level once he gets his body right. Young has the size and strength to develop into a college DE easily. He does a lot of little things well and has a few intangibles you need guys to have. Young is someone who is going to make a program very happy down the road when he’s on the field making plays just like in HS.
Trayvon Mathis Trayvon Mathis 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Avon | 2023 State IN – OLB – 5’10” 175lbs
Mathis is a really good athlete with incredible flexibility. Very likely his extensive wrestling background, but it’s why coaches love wrestlers. They are in tune with their body and are able to move well. Mathis is no different and is able to bounce around in the defense because of his athleticism and versatility. While he’s not the strongest player and is still developing physically, he’s got incredible range and is able to drop back in coverage. He’s not afraid to come down into the box and play the run either. He’s shown the ability to track the ball through traffic and make the play. He’s also got a tendency to get the ball loose. He takes swings and shots at the ball when he can, as you should, and strikes gold from time to time. He’s even shown that he can come down onto the LOS and play DE and contain the end. He’s a good enough athlete to hold the edge with an athletic QB and make the tackle if they come his way. He almost got a safety last year doing this. He was maybe 1 foot short of getting the 2 points. Mathis’s development is right on track and this fall if he’s able to have another good fall, he’ll end up somewhere collegiately with a chance to develop and make plays for them just as he does for Avon.
