The Class of 2025 will continue to grow as the high school season starts this week. Young players are moving up to the Varsity and many will play a significant amount of time throughout the season. The five players listed in this preview played a lot as freshmen, are moving up to varsity, or started as freshmen on their varsity team.
Joey Jonske Joey Jonske 5'9" | 165 lbs | ATH Cardinal Gibbons | 2025 State NC , 5’9″ 165 (No. 9 ATH, No. 39 Overall), Cardinal Gibbons HS. Joey saw limited action as a running back and wide receiver on a high-scoring offensive unit last season. He is a talented young player who plays multiple positions. Joey is expected to step up his performance on the field with increased playing time throughout the season.
Jamar Gillard Jamar Gillard 5'8" | 150 lbs | DB South View | 2025 State NC , 5’8” 145 (No. 2 DB, No. 33 Overall), South View HS. Jamar is stepping up to varsity level of competition and is expected to play in the defensive secondary. He is talented young player who is improving his skillset along with his speed to make an impact as a defensive back.
Taeshawn Alston, 6’4″ 205 (No. 1 DL, No. 21 Overall), Vance County HS. Taeshawn is quick out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving past them to make stops. He displayed good technique and good use of hands to knock down pass attempts. His quickness makes it difficult to block him, often unblocked on stops in the backfield. He finished last season with 54 total tackles, 9 of the tackles were for losses. Taeshawn received his first D-1 offer after his performance at the NC Central University Prospect Camp. The athletic defensive end has a high upside and will receive several Power5 offers over the course of his high school career.
Parker Laughlin Parker Laughlin 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB A.L. Brown | 2025 NC , 6’0″ 165 (No. 3 LB, No. 3 Overall), A.L. Brown HS. Parker is stepping up to varsity level of competition and is expected to play on the defensive unit. He is a talented young player who is improving his skillset and gaining size to make an impact as a linebacker.
Trey Blue Trey Blue 6'6" | 320 lbs | OL Cary | 2025 State NC , 6’4″ 300 (No. 11 OL, Watchlist), Cary HS. Trey displayed good technique and footwork to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He is expected to step up his performance on the field to make an impact on the offensive line. Trey’s performance on the field will generate recruiting interest for him.
