This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 6 of our New Additions to the 23′ Rankings.
Mr. Wilkerson works out of a 7 tech and has a quick first step out of his stance which he uses to get to the turn point before the offensive tackle is set to block. Once he turns the corner, he then closes quickly on the quarterback to secure the sack. He can also line up as a 1 tech as well at times. In run support, he can hold down the C gap before crashing down the line of scrimmage to disrupt plays in the backfield. What’s impressive about this young man is his ability to take the run block head on before disengaging to secure the tackle at/near the line of scrimmage for no/little gain on the play. Overall, this young man is primed for a stellar Senior season this fall and he most recently committed to Eastern Illinois University.
Mr. Rodgers is an offenive tackle that has a big frame standing at 6’7 300 lbs. With the limited film that he has, he flashes the power that he has when he’s run blocking and his pass protection skill set. He needs more film to get a better analysis on his true overall skillset. With that being said, he has high potential heading into this fall season and I’m very interested to see how he produces. Be sure to keep a close eye on this young man.
Mr. Montoya works as a 7 tech where he can use his quick first step out of his stance to give him an edge when turning the corner and shooting spas to disrupt plays both in run support as well as in his pass rush. This young man can crash down the line of scrimmage into the B gap to secure the tackle for no gain as well as does a good job of disengaging blocks to stuff the run at the line of scrimmage – on both inside and outside the tackle runs. Let’s not forget about his active hands either, pair this with his quickness out of his stance and you have yourself a high motor type of player that can disrupt plays.
Mr. Cain can line up both on the outside as well as in the slot. When he’s on the perimeter, he gets involved in the run game by stalk blocking on the perimeter giving his halfback an alley to run through. When he lines up in the slot, he can find the soft spot in zone coverage wheh he runs curls. Here, he can sit to become an outlet for his quarterback and once he secures the catch he can get vertical to keep the chains moving. At times, he’ll line up at H back where he can secure passes in the flat as well as seal the outside linebacker on outside the tackle runs. Overall, this young man is multidimensional in this offense and I’m looking forward to how he produces this fall season.
Mr. Cavan is an offensive guard that is a force when he’s pulling. Here, he’s used as a lead blocker and after he gets out of his stance quickly he can decimate 2nd level defenders. He does so by coming full head asteam and being physical at the point of attack to jolt the defender upright. This young man can also wash the defensive lineman down with his physicality and keeping his feet driving through the whistle. This young man can also get to 2nd level blocks either with a free release or doubling first with the center. Overall, keep an eye on how this young man performs this fall season as I’m very interested to see how his pass protection fairs.
