Aiden Heimann Aiden Heimann 5'11" | 155 lbs | DB Aberdeen Central | 2023 State – DB/WR, 5’10” 160lbs, Senior
Heimann is a true ballhawk in every sense of the word. His defensive IQ is seen in many plays where he can read the line of scrimmage and determine what adjustments have been called. Along with Heimann’s IQ, his hands are the best tool he has in his arsenal to help break up those tough passes. His ability to track down passes when they are in the air has shown to be one of his best abilities, and always making a play on the ball. His shorter frame allows him to make big hits and get to the offensive ball carrier quickly. Heimann is even better for his craftiness and the way he can jam wide receivers at the line of scrimmage to stifle the offense. Heimann is an all-around great defensive back.
Karson Carda Karson Carda 6'0" | 210 lbs | RB Aberdeen Central | 2023 State – RB, 6’0″ 210lbs, Senior
Carda is a unique combination of a fast and agile, mixed with a strong power pack. Carda mostly plays well in the setting of being a bruising power back who can bulldoze anyone in his way. To put it simply, he is a freight train who decimates anyone that comes in his way. He has great hands too as a running back, with the ability to catch passes out of the backfield. He is the textbook red zone threat who can power through on the goal line or catch a quick pass to power through into the endzone. He is efficient at breaking tackles for big gains, because of his size and frame Carda is hard for anyone to take down. If you want a mini offensive lineman you have that with Carda too, he is a great pass blocker and can hold his own with some of the best edge rushers South Dakota has to offer.
Brian Johnson Brian Johnson 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Aberdeen Central | 2023 State – DT, 6’2″ 240lbs, Senior
Johnson is a prime example of an elite run stuffer and stopper at the offensive line. Johnson stops run plays at the line of scrimmage and can provide his team with elite abilities to complete halt the run. He forces the offense to call pass plays and forces the ball to be put into the air. While not being a pass rusher, Johnson has the ability to blow past lineman to get into the backfield. He jams the lineman and can easily throw them to ground with little to no effort on your end. He is nearly impossible to be double teamed because of his frame and size. Johnson is one of the best run stopping defensive players that South Dakota has to offer and is an anchor to lead any defense.
Casey Vining – DE/G, 6’0″ 235lbs, Senior
Vining can be a useful player on both sides of the ball to help his team no matter what. Vining mainly plays most of his snaps on the defensive side of the ball and overpowers the offense. While he is not the fastest, he uses his strength to overpower anyone that he sees in his way. He likes to come off the edge by domaining the outside tackle and rack up sacks at a great rate. Double teams do not seem to work on him, with him getting through both of his blockers with little effort on his end. Vining has played some snaps at the interior guard position and had some success there. He is a great run blocker who stymies the defense’s best defensive tackles. He is someone that you want on your team and can give you great production in a useful position on both sides of the ball.
