The Mustangs are under new leadership with Scott Underwood taking the Head Coaching job earlier this winter and hiring an almost completely brand new coaching staff. The first day of camp was scorching for the staff and campers, but the didn’t stop a few from standing out in the limited number of campers on Day One. Day Two had a few more numbers, and the weather was better earlier in the day and brought out good performances as well. Check out the stand outs from the two-day camp!
Lakeview WR/DB- Greg Schafer Greg Schafer 5'10" | 155 lbs | RB Lakeview | 2023 State MN looked good in testing, 40-yard dash and agility testing in particular. He was very explosive on his starts, changed directions well and quickly, and accelerated out his breaks really well. He ran routes with a lot of speed and precision in both individuals and the competition portions of camp. He flashed good hands too along with his speed, he was able to shake defenders fairly easy and make the catches easier for himself.
Eden Prairie LB- Logan Bosch looked very well rounded in each phase of the camp. He had good footwork in the agility drills along with the position individuals. He played very physical in both the run-stopping and pass-defending competitions. I liked his lateral movement, both how quickly he moved and that he covered a lot of ground in very few steps. He did really well getting depth on his pass drops to keep his eye on the QB but also keeping himself close to his receiver. He did an excellent job breaking up passes that would also not draw flags.
Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial TE- Drew Dahl competed very well throughout the whole session. He moves extremely well for his size with good footwork and speed coming out of his stance. He did a good job not telegraphing his routes and keeping defenders on their heels in competition. He was getting a great deal of space on each different route he ran, and he made some impressive catches, both wide open and in traffic.
BOLD WR- Stevie Mcmath Stevie Mcmath 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR BOLD | 2023 MN was standing out all day for the whole camp. He testing went really well in his 40 and pro-agility, along with the agility stations in the circuit they did. He is very aware of his ability and knows how to beat the guy across from him on each play. He has good footwork, awareness and physicality when it comes to playing football. He ran good routes in competition and was able to get himself open to make plays on the football.
Miller-Highmore-Harrold RB- Tate Hoffman Tate Hoffman 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Miller/Highmore/Harrold | 2023 State ran one of the fastest 40’s on the day to start camp and kept up that intensity all camp. His frame really stood out to me to start, then he added the speed, agility and route-running out of the backfield and really got my attention. He was really quick on his breaks and had a lot of separation from his defender and made some nice catches, even contested ones too.
