These five players excel under that pressure and can light up a stadium like few others in the state of Utah on a Friday night.

Burton earns the top spot for his ability to make plays when everything around him breaks down. The 6’2 signal-caller excels at relocating and setting his feet before dropping balls in the bread basket. He throws one of the best balls in the state with great zip. Burton is an accurate anticipatory thrower who excels at placing the ball where only his receivers can get it. The Springville sensation is as clutch as they come and never shies away from the moment. Burton has no problem delivering accurate passes when throwing across his body or with defensive linemen barring down on him.

When the pocket breaks down, McCae Hillstead McCae Hillstead 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Skyridge | 2023 State UT transforms into Houdini. The 5’11 quarterback is the fastest, shiftiest, and most elusive quarterback in the state, all rolled in one. Skyridge’s signal caller possesses an impressive arm and makes off-platform throws look routine. He can also deliver an accurate ball to any field level when given time. When plays break down and he takes off, he makes defenders look ridiculous in the open field. His spin move is akin to that of a top running back, and it can be extremely hard for defenders to get their hands on him. He can change direction on the drop-off a dime and is genuinely one of the state’s best athletes and quarterbacks.

Brosseau posses the states strongest arm. The 6’5 quarterback makes deep shots look easy as he throws a beautiful ball. The arc on his throws over 30 yards is reminiscent of NFL quarterback Russell Wilson. The ball seems to sail in the air forever before dropping in the bread basket of his receiver. Brosseau can fit balls in the tightest of windows and always stands tough in the pocket, waiting for his receivers to break open. He does a great job of stepping up in the pocket when he feels pressure and can deliver accurate balls on the move. Because of his frame, Brosseau can shake off arm tackles and keep plays alive. Brosseau is also a phenomenal leader who is a true team-first player. He led Lehi to a state title a year ago and could lead his team to another championship in 2022

Beyer lets his play do the talking, and it speaks volumes. The 6’5 quarterback throws a beautiful deep ball that gets great air under it. He’s tough as nails in the pocket and will always take a hit to wait for his receiver to break open. His impressive arm strength allows him to get incredible velocity on each of his passes. Beyer does an excellent job of navigating the pocket when the pressure does break through and is adept at keeping plays alive. He is also a solid athlete willing to grind out the tough yards on the ground if no one is open.

Watson burst onto the scene a year ago as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the state. The 6’1 signal-caller quickly gets set in the pocket and moves through his progression at a nice pace. He has a solid arm and rarely misses his teammates when they break open. When everyone is covered, Watson is also capable of taking it himself. Going into 2022, he has a great chance to build off his past success.
