Proven seniors with offers across the NSIC, and a ton of 2024s that can really stack their names up under the lights on Saturdays in the future with their upcoming junior seasons. Here it is, the last who-ra from Winona and the book is now closed on on one of our favorite times of the year, prospect camp season!
Most of our Dakotas subscribers are well aware of this name by now, but there is more to talk about Lucas from his performance at the Winona State prospect camp. He showed excellent mechanics and was one of the most polished ball-throwers overall at the Winona State prospect camp. He also passed the eye test in a camp setting with the fluidity he showed in his footwork. The biggest skill set Lucas can grow on as we get into fall camp is the alignment of the throws he makes on intermediate routes with his feet. Lucas picked up on this quick at the Winona State prospect camp, but as we look into fall, I want to see how he utilizes his coaching from Winona with this growing skillset.

The prospects just keep coming from Caledonia, and I cannot be more thrilled about it. Jordan showed off the significant balance in Indy drills and did a great job keeping a tight angle with his base around the circles to shield into the ball carrier with solid contact from the reps I watched. Jordan has limited tape at the moment, but from what I was able to grasp this young man has some nasty physicality and opens his hips effectively to line up a punctured punch into the defensive linemen with his 6’2 size. He also shows off the solid potential looking at the future with his kickoffs by fooling the cameraman on his onside kicks, which shows the awareness trait I will look at when we evaluate him in the future.

I was impressed with the burst ability Jordan brought to the table during the late session of 1v1 reps. I also liked his footwork off his release, which showed good athleticism out of his stance. It appears that Jordan is just scratching the surface of his football upside, as I could not find him on a Hudl depth chart for Arcadia as of yet. Jordan is a WR prospect that I will put in stay-tuned mode to see how his fall football season plays out as he is very under the radar in the 2024 class.
Ronnie was an RB prospect from locally right in Winona, and we were able to get him on our radar very early at the Winona State prospect camp. He was impressive with his intense speed from what my eyes could gauge, and his change of direction showed a lot of agile movement that I could see what would be hard to tackle in the open field. Surely enough, when I got a glimpse of Ronnie’s game tape, he showed good elusiveness in his running ability and had that escape ability to get to the outside where you see his burst come out strongly. Ronnie has a strong lower body at 180 pounds that can shed off first contact with good ease. He also shows that same instinctive footwork from the linebacker spot as he can change that direction I mentioned with open hips and can get to the football early in the play. I am excited to see what Ronnie can put together in his junior season, as I will be paying close attention to this SE Minnesota prospect come this fall.
I have gotten to scout a handful of specialists this summer at prospect camps, but man, I am not sure I have seen a punter more flexible than Ben this summer when watching him churn his hips around in the cone drills at the Winona State prospect camp. He also showed off more length across his body than I watched in prior evaluations of Ben, which just shows this young man has been working his tail off all summer to get more versatile come fall for Baraboo. Wisconsin’s #1 punter blended in well with both the RB/LB groups showing the mobility and athleticism you like to see when you look at the next level. His focus on getting better struck me as he showed off skills outside his plethora, which college coaches should look for with Ben.

Aiden was really impressive with the speed of his footwork from the drills I caught at the Winona State Prospect Camp. He also showed off his straight-line speed at a high level. Aiden’s tape shows ample knockback ability on darn near every tackle I watched on tape as he plays with a lot of enthusiasm on that end of the ball from the cornerback spot for the Winhawks. I also love Aiden’s awareness as a pass-catcher, as his ability to use his vision to track the ball shows some great instincts for balls that might be slightly off line. I also like the range Aiden plays in the secondary, as he shows how much range he can cover the deeper I got into his tape. Aiden appears much more under the radar than he should be, as he holds one roster spot at the D3 level, and could certainly be seen as a D2 level prospect in my eyes. A big senior season could show that off even more, and pay dividends for Aiden at the college level.

The final prospect camp evaluation of the summer goes to Byron RB Adam Glynn Adam Glynn 5’11” | 180 lbs | RB Byron | 2024 State MN . What did we like about the Prep Redzone Minnesota showcase alum? Adam has improved with his agility since we last scouted him in the Spring and put his moves to good use in the Indy drills at the Winona State prospect camp. Adam shows off a north-south runner, but there is some upside to watching his physicality churn out with his inside running game. There certainly was more some development work put in this offseason with his footwork, and it makes me excited to see what kind of junior season Adam puts together with his added growth this offseason.

More Prospects that Stood Out at the Winona State Prospect Camp:
I had relatively light notes (not enough for a full evaluation) on these two local prospects, but they have my eyes as we look into the upcoming fall season for sure as they put some junior tape together.
