Now that I have covered the class of 2023, I will now turn my attention to the top incoming junior prospects in Kentucky. Over the next few weeks, I will do positional breakdowns and discuss how our rankings came to be. To wrap up the skill players on the offensive side of the ball, here are our top tight ends in the class of 2024.
Not only is Gavin Chadwell Gavin Chadwell 6’5″ | 235 lbs | TE North Laurel | 2024 KY our top tight end in the class of 2024 in Kentucky, he is also our top overall player in the entire class. Chadwell has shown on multiple occasions that you can simply line him up on the outside and throw the ball up to him. While he already has a size advantage on most defensive backs, Chadwell also has the athleticism to go up and catch passes at their highest point, even when being contested. He has great concentration and very reliable hands, looking in the ball and coming away with it, even with a defender breaking on the ball. Chadwell is also used on screen passes, using his strength to break tackles after the catch and showing the speed to run away from a defense once he hits the open field. Gavin currently holds offers from Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect that list to expand as he is a Power 5 talent at tight end and has received a ton of college interest.
Will Rich Will Rich 6’3″ | 215 lbs | TE Lexington Christian Academy | 2024 State KY is another junior tight end that I have been high on for a while now. Rich is an excellent blocker, with the ability to find defenders in the open field and get inside position and extension with his hands. Once he is locked in, Will does a great job of keeping his feet churning and driving his man down the field. He also is a very reliable receiver, often lining up in the slot and using his speed and tackle breaking ability to turn short passes into big gains. While Will doesn’t currently hold any offers, I expect them to come soon as he has been receiving college interest and has the skill set to be a very good tight end at the next level.
The third and final tight end that cracked our Top 125 for the class of 2024 is Zach Hohman Zach Hohman 6’3″ | 210 lbs | TE Oldham County | 2024 KY from Oldham County. Hohman lines up as a true traditional tight end on the end of the offensive line and is very reliable in every aspect of the offense. As a pass catcher, Hohman does a great job of leaking out into coverage and posing as a key target in the middle of the field. He has solid route running skills and very reliable hands, with the ability to catch the ball away from his body, even while in traffic. Hohman is also a very good run blocker. He has a quick, explosive first step out of his stance and keeps his feet running on first contact, driving his man down the field. Zach doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is a player to watch over the next two seasons as he definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
