One thing is for sure though, this sophomore class has shown a ton of promise through the first two weeks of the season.
This September update for the sophomore class saw 25 new players make their debuts, which increased the rankings to 100 ranked prospects in the state. However, only a select few managed to join the Top 50. Here’s a look at nine prospects that cracked the top half of the rankings.
Carter Pabst Carter Pabst 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Eisenhower | 2025 State KS – Eisenhower, 6’1”, 170, WR
The young wideouts in this sophomore class have really impressed so far. Carter Pabst Carter Pabst 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Eisenhower | 2025 State KS is one that has already taken on the role as the top target for his team. He dominated in his varsity debut during Week 1, securing seven catches for 179 yards and three touchdowns against Hutchinson. That’s not a stat line you typically see from a sophomore receiver at the varsity level. His play through his first two games brings him in at No. 7 overall, and he is the 3rd ranked wideout in the class.
Connor Bohon Connor Bohon 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Mill Valley | 2025 State KS – Mill Valley, 6’3”, 180, QB
With quarterback Hayden Jay Hayden Jay 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Mill Valley | 2023 State KS being the starter on varsity, Connor Bohon Connor Bohon 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Mill Valley | 2025 State KS has had the opportunity to gain mental reps as his backup. While being a backup isn’t ideal, this time spent learning behind Jay will only benefit Bohon. He has however seen some varsity action in the Jaguars’ lopsided victories. Bohon managed to real off an impressive 20-yard run during Week 2, and could have more opportunities throughout this season. The young signal caller checks in at No. 19 and is the 3rd ranked quarterback in the class.
Jeremiah Rhoades Jeremiah Rhoades 6'2" | 185 lbs | RB Olathe North | 2025 State KS – Olathe North, 6’1”, 190, RB
Jeremiah Rhoades Jeremiah Rhoades 6'2" | 185 lbs | RB Olathe North | 2025 State KS follows right behind Bohon at No. 20, and he is the 3rd ranked running back in the class. Rhoades first appeared in the Class of ’25 Watch List series before the start of the season, and since then he’s been a solid contributor on varsity. His physical play style earned him a role as a hybrid fullback in Olathe North’s run heavy offense. The Eagles like to use him as a lead blocker, but he has also impressed when he’s touched the ball. He could see more carries come his way as he earns the trust of the coaching staff.
Adam Hageman Adam Hageman 5'10" | 180 lbs | LB Shawnee Mission NW | 2025 State KS – Shawnee Mission NW, 5’10”, 165, LB
Shawnee Mission Northwest has multiple first-year starters on both sides of the ball this year, and Adam Hageman Adam Hageman 5'10" | 180 lbs | LB Shawnee Mission NW | 2025 State KS is one that is on his way to a breakout season. He enters the rankings at No. 29 and is the 2nd ranked linebacker in the class after putting together two strong performances to start the ’22 campaign. Hageman is Northwest’s leading tackler through the first two weeks, as he’s piled up 30 total thus far. The sophomore also has seven tackles for loss and one forced fumble on his season totals.

The Wichita South product enters the rankings at No. 34 overall and is the 4th ranked backer in the class. Wichita South’s defense has struggled against some very tough competition to start the year, but Maholmes has been a bright spot for their unit. He’s proved to be one of the Titans’ more reliable defenders so far this season. Maholmes has displayed good range, solid tackling, and quick recognition through his first two varsity games.
Charlie Woleben Charlie Woleben 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL De Soto | 2025 State KS – De Soto, 6’4”, 200, DL
Charlie Woleben Charlie Woleben 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL De Soto | 2025 State KS has the potential of being a very disruptive defensive lineman in the future. He’s shown versatility and toughness in his first two games on De Soto’s varsity squad. While he is light for a 3-Tech, Woleben has shown he can take on interior offensive linemen. However, given his rangy frame, Woleben looks more suited to be a 5-Tech. Woleben comes into the rankings as the 3rd ranked defensive lineman, and the 36th ranked prospect overall.
Max Huston Max Huston 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Seaman | 2025 State KS – Seaman, 6’0”, 170, QB

The varsity lights haven’t been too bright for Ziegler, as he’s shined at defensive tackle and at left tackle. Ziegler makes his debut as the 4th ranked defensive lineman in the class, and the 38th ranked prospect overall. Through two games the sophomore has racked up nine total tackles, six tackles for loss, and two sacks. He’s a prospect that plays with high intensity, and could be a problem for opposing linemen the rest of the season.
Nico Cocumelli Nico Cocumelli 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Blue Valley West | 2025 State KS – Blue Valley West, 6’3”, 220, DL
