Here, we take a look at some of the breakout QBs the state has to offer, and analyze what has led to their big-time seasons.
Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA – Walton – 2024
Hecklinski was my personal pick for breakout player of the year in Georgia. He had a productive season in 2021 splitting time with an FBS QB signee, but I was excited to see what he could do in complete control of the Walton offense. After seeing him earlier this summer pick apart defenses in the 7v7 circuit, I was a believer. So far, I believe he has validated everything I saw. Walton has played a loaded schedule against schools like Mill Creek, Brookwood, and Marietta. Despite the major early season tests, Walton is 3-1, and largely due to their stellar QB play. Hecklinski has completed 67% of his passes for nearly 1300 yards and has added 12 TDs to 4 INTs. He has also found the endzone once as a rusher. Hecklinski has a special combination of arm strength and accuracy. He can rip the ball into tight windows with ease and does an excellent job of placing the ball to where only his receiver has a chance on it. He also has a smooth, over-the-top release which allows him to layer the ball nicely and take the top off the defense. On top of his physical attributes, he has remained in control of the game and hasn’t seemed phased by mistakes. Hecklinski has all the tools to be a difference maker at the next level, and he is only getting better.
Antwann Hill Antwann Hill 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Houston County | 2025 State GA Jr – Houston County – QB
Hill debuted as our No. 1 QB in Georgia for the 2025 class. As expected, he is having a breakout sophomore season and has improved greatly with a year of starting experience under his belt. Last season, he experienced some expected growing pains as he started as a freshman. Regardless, he has made a complete turnaround from his first season and is in the middle of a monster 2022 campaign. Hill has thrown for nearly 1200 yards and 12 TDs against 2 INTs. Most impressively is his completion percentage, which is sitting at 77% on the season. In his last two games, he has thrown a combined 1 incomplete pass. When comparing his film to that of a year ago, there really isn’t much of a difference fundamentally. Hill stands at 6’6 with an ultra-strong arm, which he showed flashes of as a freshman. Where he is really growing is the mental part of the game. He is delivering the ball with more confidence and is playing looser. He also looks to be moving around a little more free as well. Everyone has always known that Hill had some unreal tools, it was just a matter of tying them together. Well, he has done that, and it is not a good sign for opposing defenses. Hill is one of the most highly sought-after QBs in the 2025 class.
Bryce Clavon Bryce Clavon 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Kell | 2024 State GA – Kell – 2024
Clavon is a name that has been floating around the baseball circuit for a while now. In fact, he is considered a major draft prospect for the upcoming MLB draft. Yet, he has something to prove on the football field, and he has been impressive thus far. Clavon is entering his first season with Kell and just his first season starting at the QB position, but you would think he was a proven commodity at the position if you watched him play. Clavon has made his mark in the air, as he has thrown for just under 1000 yards while completing 67% of his passes for 10 TDs-2 INTs. However, he separates himself with his mobility and creativity. He has rushed for 369 yards this year with 6 TDs. Whether it is with his arm or with his legs, he is a threat to score when the offense runs through him. As you could expect, Clavon is a strong-armed prospect that can put plenty of air under the ball. He has shown the ability to make the touch throws, even when throwing on the move or under duress. He is an excellent runner with RB-like vision, but he plays composed and has great pocket awareness. When he extends the play, he keeps his eyes downfield and always remains under control. I have spoken at length with Clavon, and he made it clear that he wants to play football beyond high school. He is developing into a bonafide P5 QB prospect, and for good reason.
Christian Langford – East Coweta – 2025
Langford transferred to East Coweta this past season, and he has instantly provided a spark through the air and on the ground for the East Coweta offense. With Langford in control, the Indians sit at a comfortable 4-1 as they head into the thick of region play. Coming into the season, Langford was relatively under the radar for a somewhat highly regarded QB with plenty of tools. As we have hit the halfway point of the season, Langford has started to play himself on the map. While he has only completed 57% of his passes, Langford has broken the 1000-yard mark on the season and has a decent TD-INT ratio (15-6). He has also been extremely productive on the ground, rushing for 330 yards on 7.7 YPC and adding a TD. While he has room to grow as a decision-maker, he has shown the ability to move the ball downfield and put points on the board. This is evident by his 6 total TDs and 400+ total yards of offense this past week against a good Lowndes team. Everything Langford does is quick. He is a quick thinker and has a quick release, which allows him to put the ball into windows before they close. He is also quick on his feet and looks extremely comfortable when on the move. So far, Langford has proven to be a bonafide playmaker, and he still has a few years to grow and develop into a solid prospect at the next level.
