Saguaro @ Chandler
A rematch of the 2021 Open Division Championship goes down in Chandler on Friday night. Saguaro got the best of them last season in a close 20-15 dog fight game. There’s really no question that both of these teams will once again make the open division playoffs with potential to meet again depending on seeding. Both teams are absolutely loaded which includes a showdown between two of the best QB’s in Arizona with Dylan Raiola Dylan Raiola 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Buford | 2024 State GA and Devon Dampier Devon Dampier 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Saguaro | 2023 State AZ . Chandler has been rolling through their first 3 opponents while Saguaro has had some tough games in their 2-1 record thus far. Regardless, Friday night is about to be a live atmosphere with tons of division 1 talent on the field.
ALA-Gilbert North @ Prescott
ALA-GN will head up north to take on Prescott in what is one of the most interesting matchups of the season in 4A. There’s some really good talent in 4A this year, but right now, I believe ALA-GN and Prescott are the top 2 teams in the state and the most well rounded at the 4A level. Prescott has so many different guys that can break a big play in a split second and is a very fast team all across the board. ALA-GN is very similar, but the two prospects that show out for ALA-GN are two of the best players in the entire state with Adam Damante Adam Damante 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy (Gilbert North) | 2023 State AZ (NAU commit) and Brandon Phelps Brandon Phelps 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North | 2024 State AZ , who holds multiple P5 offers.
Cactus @ Snowflake
Cactus makes the trip up north to take on the back to back 3A state champs who recently bumped up to 4A here in 2022. Cactus enters the season 1-2 while Snowflake comes in 3-0 and looking to defend their undefeated record at home against a tough Cactus squad. Both teams are super physical all across the board and play with a ton of energy. They both have that gritty, won’t back down demeanor as they have both had to fight out wins the last few seasons against some really tough programs. Overall a very interesting matchup this week.
Camelback @ Arcadia
Camelback enters the contest 1-2 after a surprising loss to Paradise Valley last week. Arcadia is off to a hot start under Coach Brown to start off 3-0 after a 27-21 win over Coconino last week. There’s been a ton of praise for Camelback QB Max Martin Max Martin 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Camelback | 2023 State AZ , and they’re going to need him to have a big night this Friday in efforts to take down an undefeated Arcadia. Arcadia’s 2025 QB Braylen Rooney Braylen Rooney 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Arcadia | 2025 State AZ has been dicing up defenses and playing lights out, as he’s emerging as a new top dog over at Arcadia and a definite difference maker.
Desert Mountain @ Chaparral
One of the top teams in 5A in Desert Mountain will look to make it 4-0 against an always compeittive Chaparral squad. Chap comes in 2-1 fresh off a 31-13 win over Mountain Pointe. Desert Mountain’s impressive prospects continue to show up and show why they deserve those offers. After the departure of top prospects form a season ago, Chaparral has had to have some new faces step up and fill some big roles. Overall, an interesting matchup with strong potential on both sides with a big opportunity for some Chap athletes to make a name for themselves on Friday night.
