Continue ReadingFerguson is a physical enforcer for the Damascus defensive line. He is fast off the ball and physical on contact when he reaches the ball carrier. If left unblocked 9/10 he will make the play. He shows good strength when engaged at the line of scrimmage by simply bull rushing past or throwing the blocker aside. Ferguson is on the verge to increase his recruiting stock a lot with a good year. He already has prototypical size for a DE at 6’4 235lbs, keep an eye on Ferguson and the tough Damascus defense to make some noise early.

Simms is a raw talent and absolute athlete on the defensive line. He can play stand up end or linebacker because of how quick he is. He bends the corner fast and makes his presence felt. He forces fumbles and can chase down just about any quarterback. Simms is a sideline to sideline stand up end. Dunbar is in the hunt to defend their championship and the defense will play a huge part on their journey. Simms has the explosives to help lead his team back to states.

Daron is the anchor in the middle of that championship Mervo defense. He will not be moved by 1 person and once he gets his grasp on his opponent the only direction, they’re going is backwards. I was at the epic Dunbar vs Mervo game last season and watched Deniton keep the middle of the line at a standstill, the opponent had the least success in the inside running game. After a summer of training and polishing technique Daron may be more of an impact and a dynamic player on the interior line for the defending 3A/4A champs this season.
Veteran DT that has been playing Varsity and producing since he was a freshman. Howard is powerful and strong compared to his opponents; he pushes them around like a sled. Between the tackles is his domain on this defense, he can bull rush, demonstrates his spin move, swim and patience in the interior line. After 3 years on this defense Howard is due for a breakout year.
Fedd is a talent that is still under the radar. He had a tremendous May this offseason. I attended The TCA Gauntlet linemen showcase where I got to see him up close and personal. Fedd has violent hands, a relentless motor and gets crafty in his moves. A few days later he landed an offer from Saint Francis University and then Wheeling University a day later. An athletically built 6’4 240lb 16-year-old should catch some more coaches eyes by the end of the season. Expect to see a lot of highlights of Feed on this strong defense this season as he continues to bloom as a player.
Hayes is a transfer from WCAC power Good Counsel to 4A state champ Quince Orchard. He will be teaming up with an already dominant D-line core at QO, which will allow him to show off his unique skills. Hayes is committed to Davidson University looking to go on a championship run this season.
