Despite only putting up 17 points, Grayslake North’s quarterback Jacob Donohue Jacob Donohue 5'11" | 155 lbs | QB Grayslake North | 2023 State IL was beyond impressive and proved to me that he’s one of, if not the best quarterback in Lake County. He’s been on fire for two weeks and it’s going to be fun to watch how he finishes out his senior season.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at the top performers and some in-game highlights from Grayslake North’s 17-14 victory over Mundelein.
Grayslake North
Donohue proved he’s one of the top quarterbacks in Lake County. He’s poised in the pocket, and his escapability and skill in extending plays are through the roof. His arm talent goes without question; he can make all the throws and is above average in the accuracy department. What I was most impressed with is his ability to run the football. He’s a real threat to take it to the house when he breaks the pocket. Finished the game with 2 passing touchdowns and was also Grayslake North’s leading rusher.
Highlights
Charles Pritchard | WR | 2023
Pritchard was the Knight’s most targeted player and proved to be a true security blanket for his quarterback. He had a 19-yard touchdown reception which he was also able to show his ability to pile up the YAC.
Jose Munoz | RB | 2024
Munoz may be short in stature but displayed incredible toughness during the victory over Mundelein. He’s a shifty runner who doesn’t shy away from contact; he also showed he could handle a heavy workload carrying the ball. Munoz caught a 10-yard touchdown reception which would be the eventual game-winning touchdown.
The Entire Defense
The Grayslake North defense had two incredible goal-line stands that altered the outcome of this game. Mundelein was threatening to score and could have taken the lead on multiple possessions, but their inability to convert two fourth and shorts inside their 5-yard line is why they found themselves on the losing end of this contest. Credit to the Knight’s defense, who was absolutely swarming and played together as one unit throughout the game.
Mundelein
Hansen is an immovable force at 6’6” 300lbs. Although his team came up short in the win department, Hansen held is own on the line and to my account did not give up a single sack during the game.
Highlights
Marcel Siepka | RB | 2023
Siepka finished the game with 1 rushing touchdown and well over 100 yards on the ground. Siepka is a bruising, hard-nosed runner who appeared to get stronger as the game progressed. He also was a tackling machine and made his presence felt on defense. Siepka was without a doubt Mundelein’s workhorse and could very well be one of the leading rushers and tacklers in Lake County by season’s end.
Lucas Dickey | RB | 2024
Dickey is your prototypical scat-back who got some good runs under his belt during this contest. He’s a natural runner of the football who possesses the game-breaking speed to go this distance.
