There are a couple athletes we have labeled at different positions that look even better on the defensive side of the ball. We have huge numbers, and talent that can make next level impact. Let’s get it it! Don’t forget to check out the highlights for yourself!
Stats: 10 Tackles, 1 PBU, 2 QB PressuresrnThe 6’1″ 200 lbs junior is going to be moving up the rankings if he continues playing like he did in Week 6. The LB demonstrated a complete game in his highlights this week. He is a rangy LB who can go from his LB position to the sideline to stop the run, or to cover the curls to flat zones. His PBU shows that off perfectly. We also got to see his closing speed on a tackle of the QB out in space. Tommy closed before the QB could try an open field move on him. Tommy goes from that athleticism to strength as he fits through a block to make a stop against the run. Strong week for the junior.
Stats: 11 Tackles, 1 INT
The 6’3″ safety is an athlete who I liked at WR last year, but looks even better this fall. Especially back at the safety position. Owen sees the field well, and he diagnoses what he sees rather quickly. That ability makes it so he can use his speed to get to the ball before the receiver can secure the catch. Owen has soft hands giving him turnover potential at every catch point. The ATH holds three offers so far. Carthage, UW- River Falls, and Knox College.
Highlights
Stats: 20 Tackles, 4 Sacks, 7 TFLs, 2 FF, 2 FRrnThe stat line of the week has to go to the Union Grove DL as he as helps the Broncos earn their first win of the season. In one game, Noah put up a stat line that many would call a solid season! The talent matches the production. The 6’2″ 240 lbs senior is one of the most disruptive trench players in the state. He plays like a player 40 lbs heavier. Opposing linemen were not able to get him off his spot. His power to blast through blockers and shed blocks jumps off the tape. Once he gets into the backfield he bursts to the ball and ends plays. I have a feeling he will be a steal because when he gets to a program at the net level and starts filling out Noah will be difficult to block. He holds offers from the D3 level up to the FBS level.
Highlights
Stats: 3 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 1 FFrnAnother player in this week’s list that is focusing on a different position is junior Andrew Baumgart Andrew Baumgart 6’1″ | 240 lbs | DL West De Pere | 2024 State WI . The 6’2″ 220 lbs DL wins with burst and body control. Andrew has some strong moves. He is able to turn and get skinny to slip between blocks. There were a couple plays they didn’t block him for some reason, and he showed of that closing speed to end plays before they started. His athleticism is his top trait. The pass rush moves need work, but he is at a good point for his level of experience. Despite the lack of moves, Andrew does a solid job of disengaging blocks. Definitely check this kid out. Potential to be tapped into.
Highlights
Stats: 20 Tackles, 6 TFLs,3 Sacks, 1 FFrnAnother insane stat line belongs to the senior out of Sturgeon Bay. The highlights start off with a glimpse into his blitzing. The timing and acceleration got him plenty of free runs to create a ton of disruption. We also get to see the range to chase down plays going away from him. Find the ball, and you find David. He has been a tackling machine. The senior holds one offer from Ripon.
Highlights
Jeremiah McGee
Jeremiah McGee
Stats: 10 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 TFLrnThis is a new athlete for me. He is an impressive one that next level coaches will want to know. He is ‘1″ 220 lbs as a junior. He also runs a 4.6 40 yard dash. Jeremiah is a twitchy LB. His play on the edge already looks next level ready. The acceleration out of his two point stance is lightning quick. He closes in a flash and hits with violence. It is short film, so I went through other highlights. In those he plays ILB and does a great job of navigating the trash between the tackles. I believe he can play at a very high level of college football.
Stats: 15 TacklesrnThe Pewaukee defense was the best in the state in 2021. It was the key that brought them home a state championship. They are working on repeating that dominance, and at the middle is Charlie Rumohr Charlie Rumohr 6’1″ | 200 lbs | LB Pewaukee | 2024 State WI . The junior LB was a heat seeking tackler last week. Tosa West runs the ball a ton, and they get sneaky with the hand offs. However, Charlie wasn’t fooled. He stuck to his responsibility, and when he could would slide himself into position to make a stop when he saw the ball going elsewhere. Rumohr proved to be slippery when trying to get a block on him. I’m looking forward to getting him in the rankings after the season.
Stats: 3 Tackles, 2 INTs, 1 TFL, 1 FRrnThe 5’10” senior is a speedster on the outside. He has reported 4.66 40 speed, and it shows up on defense, and on special teams. Both his INTs were right place at the right time, quick reaction plays where he had to flash fast hands. Mullen is also a reliable tackler out in space. The CB can close quickly before the receiver makes a move. The hips look fluid, and allow him to change directions rather quickly. The impressive athlete holds one offer from Upper Iowa.
