Continue ReadingThroughout the state of Georgia, there have been plenty of explosive teams who have not only put up tons of points, but have destroyed their competition. While the skilled players on these teams typically get all of the credit, we here at PrepRedzone want to take a few moments to recognize the state leaders in kick scoring who have continued to make this possible- as their kicks are not as automatic and as easy as people would like to think. Kicking takes work.
Ty Roldan- Kennesaw Mountain
Even though Kennesaw Mountain does not get as much recognition as it may deserve, Roldan still does a good job of repping for his team, especially in the total points he is able to put up for his team with his leg. This year, Roldan has already put up 35 points in just 4 games, and has averaged around 8.8 points a game. To add to this, he has also put up 17 PAT’S, and has a total of 6 field goals as well. If this is not impressive, we do not know what is, but we are certain that his performance in this way will help his team continue the early success they have seen in their 4 wins.
Gabe Caison- Camden County
While Caison has played in 5 games rather than 4, his success in this time frame still counts, as he has racked up 33 total points with his leg so far. To this point of the season, Caison has averaged around 6.6 points a game, and has hit 15 PAT’s, and 6 field goals. If this says anything, this shows how versatile of a kicker Caison is, as he is able to get the job done with any kind of kick his team needs. Moving forward, we would love to see him continue to improve as the season goes by, especially in his timing, and the way he is able to consistently get a spin on the ball.
Ethan Byrd- Savannah Christian
While Savannah Christian typically does not get that much buzz, Ethan Byrd’s success at the kicker position has not only been huge for his team, but big for his school. While he has put up 31 points in 4 games, he has also averaged around 7.8 points a game, with 28 PAT’s, and 1 successful field goal this year. This amount of accuracy and success has resulted in a 4-0 record for his team, and we expect his team to continue to march on to success the next few weeks, resulting in more points for Byrd.
Andy Ramirez- Trion
Even though Ramirez is fourth on this list, we have high hopes for where he may lie on this list when things are all said and done. To start, not only has he already reached 31 total points for his team, but he has also averaged 6.5 points a game for his team, which is impressive for a kicker. Specifically, Ramirez has accomplished 19 PAT’s this year, with 4 field goals, proving that he can gain points for his team in various situations. As the season progresses, he will have a chance to climb up this list, and we would not be shocked if he does.
Jackson Slade- Westfield School
In 5 games, Slade has already hit a total of 30 points, and a majority of these points come from the 27 PAT’s his team has seen. Not to discredit his success though, as he has also shown success from the field goal he was able to hit this year. As the season progresses, look for him to continue to develop as an all around kicker, especially as he may be challenged in game time situations with big kicks, and game changing field goal opportunities.
