Chanhassen’s comeback came up just short as a pass fell harmlessly to the ground in the end zone as the clock showed all zeros – giving Robbinsdale Armstrong the victory on their home field and winning this battle of undefeated teams 34-29. Here were the individual performances that stood out in another stand-out game.
Although he wouldn’t get the win, Woods was the most impressive player on the field. He should have been stopped on a sweep but made two guys miss to turn a loss into a short gain. Then, he took a kick return out to the forty. On a later run, he showed his speed to get to the corner. Woods showed his quickness when Armstrong got immediate penetration, but Woods spun out a tackle and turned a loss of three into a three yard gain. He is a threat in the passing game too. He caught a swing pass and got up the sidelines for a 25 yard touchdown. On a later run, he used his speed to the outside and then made a pair of cuts in the open field. On a designed run up the middle, Woods bounced to the outside for a first down. He bounced another run to the outside and got up the sidelines for a forty yard touchdown. He showed his speed around the corner one more time for a 37 yard touchdown run.

He ran the read option well, especially in the second half. He was using his legs more often than handing off – usually with good results. He pulled the ball, rolled out, and hit a crossing route for a first down. Later, he kept the ball and went off tackle for eight yards.
