Davis had a game-high 13 tackles and 10 of them were solo tackles in the open field.
He has two offers right now: Colorado and USC.
Davis covers a lot of the field and can lay big hits. His confidence stood out as well when you watched the game.
Highlights
Brown is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2024 class and he showed why on Friday.
Mater Dei often trusted him in man coverage or on an island in cover three. He had a huge interception in the endzone in the first half that changed the game.
After the interception, Bosco rarely threw to his side of the field.
Venegas made some big plays from the interior of the defensive line.
He led the team with 1.5 sacks and was doing a good job handling double teams in the running game.
With Kaho Tuihalamaka Kaho Tuihalamaka 6’4″ | 325 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2024 State CA missing the game due to injury, Venegas stepped up big as an interior defensive line presence for Mater Dei.
Sua was second on the team in tackles with seven and is the clear leader of the Mater Dei defense.
Coach Bruce Rollinson raves about Sua constantly and it’s easy to see why. He is always in the right spots and often guides other players pre snap on blitzes and coverages.
ST. JOHN BOSCO
Williams did a great job covering Mater Dei receivers in the Division 1 semifinals last year at Centennial and he did so again Friday.
He is a physical guy who stops the outside run effectively and can jam receivers at the line of scrimmage to alter their routes.
Williams has the speed to cover anyone in man coverage or cover large chunks of the field in zone.
Mater Dei clearly adjusted its offensive game plan around Matayo Uiagalelei Matayo Uiagalelei 6’5″ | 265 lbs | DL St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA at defensive end.
Most of its run plays were to the opposite side of him and the pass plays were quick releases to avoid his pass rush.
Uiagalelei is still athletic enough to make tackles on run plays away from him and has the strength to get stalemates against heavier offensive linemen.
Bryant was around the ball on nearly every running play for the Bosco defense.
He’s smaller than the 6-foot-1 he is listed at but he makes up for it with his motor and physicality.
Frausto-Ramos can play safety in multiple coverages or come up into the box on short-yardage downs.
Bosco loves those types of players like Sione Hala last season. He has the speed to stay in the back pocket of any receiver and he gets down the field quickly on special teams.
